CG Pro and Quick

Does anyone still use Crystalguard Pro / Quick here?

I was just introduced to this product a few months ago and decided to try it based on the posts from some my350z site. I realized that the owner of that site was also the wholesaler and thus biased but I figured the users would have complained about it if it was crap.

I did a little N00B prep work by hand washing with a microfiber mitt and Zymol bulk car wash, used a Meguiars clay bar focusing on the hood and front bumper area, then used a Mothers and Meguiars polish and lastly washed and dried the car before starting.

The Pro kit specified 2-3 hours between stages but I let it sit for 24-30 hours between each for full effect. I also did a double coat of the CG Pro top coat and let that sit for another 8 hours before rinsing with water as specified. The car was then covered with a car cover and I let it sit in the garage for about 8 days. The shine seemed okay but the surface was not very slippery at all. This concerned me but I had faith since the Pro kit was over 1 bill. 1 more week passed and it rained on the trunk and there were water spots like crazy. Hand washing couldn't get it out. I had to polish it out. So IMHO the pro kit doesn't work at all. I decided to use the CG quick as a test and that seemed to work a little better but it doesn't last at all either. Water spots like crazy even at night from a small drizzle! I used to use the MLM drywash n guard which was really easy and quick to apply but that lasted only through 2 washes or 2 rains. The Crystal Guard stuff lasted even shorter which was pretty sad.

I'm just wondering if anyone still uses this stuff and what their experiences are currently for durability. I have had feedback from one friend who noticed that the car did look a lot glossier, especially at night. It's a 98 Acura Integra GSR that has been garage kept and cared for.

I tried it and I thought it was pretty good. I found it to be dazzlingly, almost blindingly, reflective. I left it on through a couple rain storms, with no problems. I waxed over it with something else after about 3 weeks.

My opinion is that it's an excellent product but that's a big chunk of change to spend for car wax. The value ratio is out of whack. By the website it looks like it's marketed to the Ferarri/Maybach crowd, and that value ratio is a little out of whack too, so I'd guess that it's a successful marketing strategy.

I think I have a pic...

Thanks for the input Mosca,

Did you use the Pro or the Quick? I was really disappointed with the Pro due to the amount of time and effort it took for what seems to be little or no protection. I may have to become a Zaino convert as that seems to be the overall favorite brand of products across various auto boards.

Just another note, I tried to contact the US distributor and they told me that the owner is deciding what to do with the product line and not accepting dealer applications anymore. I believe it could be a combination of the price being too high(as you mentioned) and durability too low compared to other products out in the market. The shine does look nice though, but I think the only selling point for me is ease of application and that there is virtually no residue.

I used the Pro. I downloaded the video and applied it exactly as shown, with the sprayers and such. The durability for Crystal Guard is supposed to be very long, btw. Maybe covering the car trapped in some moisture that affected it, but I don't know that much about it to say.

There are quite a few awesome looking cars with Z protecting them, and there's a wealth of knowledge here also to help you through any questions you might have. It's a system that produces consistently excellent results. You could do worse.
