Car Colors . . . What to get???

Ok, long story short. I just bought a VW a month ago . . . there were problems . . . now they are giving me a new one. I can pick any color I want (within the model range). So here is my dilemma, what color should I get.

My past car was midnight black. We won't be doing that again. I currently have a silver VW. Here are the color options:

Reflex Silver

Matchstick Red

Indigo Blue

Green Rave

Black

Tornado Red

What color do you all think will be the least likely to swirl up (over time)? Now I know I have all the control over swirl marks, but the color also has a big part with the swirl marks. What do you all think?

Here is the site so you can see for yourself:

Any input is always appreciated.

Well the least likely to show swirls of the colors you mentioned is Reflex Silver. I really like the Indigo Blue but it's almost as bad as the black in the swirl department.

I agree with Showroom. Reflex Silver won't swirl if you use steel wool as a wash mit, but Indigo Blue is a very nice color and it looks pretty good when detailed properly. With silver, you can wash, polish, clean, wax, etc, and it won't look but a little bit better. The blue will get some swirls, but it's a pretty color and it looks good detailed. And of course, the kind of swirls but best looking when detailed is black. Nothing beats a properly detailed black car.

The car you are giving back is silver or you have another dub that is silver too? I’m hopefully getting a GTI next month and the choices are even more limited so I’ll be going for reflex silver, I really like that color for the Golf. My wife’s car is pearl blue and my 89 ford escort gt is black so having a lighter car for a change would be nice. If I had the choice and my wife’s car wasn’t blue I’d be tempted to get that, and I’ve sworn off black like you have. Like SRL said though if hiding dirt and swirls are you main concern silver is the way to go.

edit: brain fade, your're getting a GTI too...I could have sworn they didn't offer blue this year but they do...

i would get silver because it hardly shows any swirls or anything for that matter, but black does look amazing when it is taken care of. just sit down and think about how much time you want to put into maintainng your car.

I agree. Silver = no swirl. Silver also makes VW appear larger.

Black takes too much commitment and not a good color for a daily driver. Nothing looks better than black when detailed but nothing looks worst when dirty. :)

I almost went for silver for my car, but the dark blue looked so much sportier. I am happy with the blue. Keeping the swirls away gives my good therapy time in the garage.

Blue!!

I was thinking red. I was hoping that you would all steer me towards the red. The only thing with silver is that everyone (meaning '02 GTI owners) has silver. I cannot tell you how many silver GTI's I have seen.

I currently have a '02 Reflex Silver GTI. I can get what ever color I want, but black has been removed from my choice list. I was thinking about the Blue or the Red.

I think I shall post a poll.

Thanks.

Red is a great color. Basically an easy color to maintain and better swirl resistant ( visually speaking ) and hides minor dirt and dust very well. I'm just too old for such a flashy color on a daily driver. I do have two classics that are stock bright red (63 Nova SS and 69 396 Chevelle).

Go for it!!!:bounce

You get what you like! Black looks awesome, if taken care of, but it will never stand out like a nice bright red!

I just got off of the phone with the VW rep, and I made my choice. I am getting the 200 hp VR6 engine (I had the 1.8T with 180hp). It comes with a 6 speed manual (vroom vroom :D ). I got the Tornado Red with a black leather interior.

I will have it by the end of the month. I have never had a 6 speed manual. I am very excited. Plus, I am getting my windows retinted, so the car should look great! I can't wait to post pics. She will be all Klassed/Blitzed up soon enough.

Best regards.
