Oh yeah!
Finally got to put my reading to use this weekend. After the Dawn wash, I used a clay bar for the first time--scary! Good lord, felt like I was sanding in some places. When I was done, the car already looked as good as it had previously after being waxed with the shelf brand Meguire's. I knew that was a good start. Washed it again today to get started. The first wash and clay was yesterday--took ~2 hours to get the claying done. I took some pictures to show progress for any other newbies that are wondering.
1: Dawn wash and clay bar only. Nice and smooth, somewhat reflective but no depth:
2: Blackfire Polish:
3: Blackfire Paint Protection, deep and "dripping" looking:
Can't wait to put on another layer. First time to use MF too. I just ordered more. :xyxthumbs
I'm sure I could do a little better, but this was my first go with this stuff. Probably need to let the last layer set a little longer next time. Also, I put it on a bit thick, it's not as visible going on as the polish was, but it was still good in the end. Very slick to the touch.
I'm guessing that on a newer car/paint job it would probably make a more dramatic appearance and depth, but for the age of this paint it did a great job. The car was kept out of the weather all of it's life, but still, age is age regardless.
