Oh yeah!

Finally got to put my reading to use this weekend. After the Dawn wash, I used a clay bar for the first time--scary! Good lord, felt like I was sanding in some places. When I was done, the car already looked as good as it had previously after being waxed with the shelf brand Meguire's. I knew that was a good start. Washed it again today to get started. The first wash and clay was yesterday--took ~2 hours to get the claying done. I took some pictures to show progress for any other newbies that are wondering.

1: Dawn wash and clay bar only. Nice and smooth, somewhat reflective but no depth:

2: Blackfire Polish:

3: Blackfire Paint Protection, deep and "dripping" looking:

Can't wait to put on another layer. First time to use MF too. I just ordered more. :xyxthumbs

I'm sure I could do a little better, but this was my first go with this stuff. Probably need to let the last layer set a little longer next time. Also, I put it on a bit thick, it's not as visible going on as the polish was, but it was still good in the end. Very slick to the touch.

I'm guessing that on a newer car/paint job it would probably make a more dramatic appearance and depth, but for the age of this paint it did a great job. The car was kept out of the weather all of it's life, but still, age is age regardless.

Thanks all! It's very satisfying to put the work into it and be happy with the outcome. But I guess that's what this place is all about, huh?

Bill,

I have the SAME car you have, but a 1993.

Same color, same shine.

How has your car treated you over the years? Any problems?

The paint looks awesome.

Isn't it one of the more difficult color? I am seeing hope on a white 1992 Acura...

Thanks for the images.

Aloha!

Thanks!

I just got it last Sept. Drove to Indiana to get it, but it was worth it. The lady that had it before me rarely drove it except for highway. It does have ~90k miles, but for a 12 year old I figure that's pretty good. She kept it garaged and under a cover. I had to update maintenance with the usual things for it's age, but it's been a great car so far (knock on wood). Upper/lower control arms, motor mount, replaced all fluids, belts, valve cover gasket, plugs/wires, t-stat. Couple of other voluntary swaps, still in progress.

The interior is in great shape too, no rattles. Do need to get rid of the aged window tint. Faded to purple. Purple just doesn't cut it. That will be next.
