Calling all Canadians - Meguiar's GB

Hey Guys,

Sorry about not posting since Friday, but I brought a laptop with me to my mom's this weekend and for some reason it wouldn't connect till now.

I sent out invoices to everyone on Friday before I left, to confirm your address and requested products.... I wonder if they were sent correct ly (via email). I'll be leaving my mom's tomorrow, so I'll double check my home email tomorrow night.

The packages will go out on Wednesday, as I doubt I'll be able to get them to Canada Post on Tuesday.

For anyone who bought the W64DA's, I must say I am a bit disappointed with it (see new post) as it stopped being able to hold pads after a couple of hours use.

But major thumbs up for the PC7424 with a 6" counteweight! What a nice machine. I can't believe the job it did on my mom's and girlfriends car!

Also, I'll setup a group buy on either Pakshak or JT towels very soon (next week) as several my family and friends want some MF now after playing with JT's - wow that waffleweave sucks up water (able to do an entire Z24 with one towel and then some).

That way we can split the shipping and brokerage (if they can't ship USPO).

Cmax here in Mississauga carries the 3M Hook it's for 44CDN. I'll be picking one up after the fustrating time of using the W64DAs. If anyone would like to change their order to the 3M backing plate. Please let me know asap.

Paco:

I would like to change to the 3M. Also, I never got any emails from you. Can you either PM or email me please? Thanks.

$44CDN for a velcro backing plate seems a little crazzy....anyone have any close up pics of what the Meguiars W64DAs look like?

I'm thinking of maybe converting the 5" sanding backing plate into a custom velcro backing plate. Has anyone tried doing something like this before? If the oem velcro backing plates are anything like the rubber sanding ones, this should be no problem.

Can you see if they have any volume pricing?

Porter Cable sells their own 6 inch velcro backing plate. I've seen it on the shelf at one of the Canadian Tire stores here in Toronto. CT sells it for about 25 bucks plus tax. I've never used it so I don't know how good it is, but it may be worth a shot. 25 bucks is better than 44.

Oh, and Automotive International also sells accessories that will fit the PC. I believe they sell a velcro backing plate and foam pads.

They have two Canadian distributors. I've purchased the Neutralization system from the distributors in Ontario. Very nice, very knowledgable.

They may be worth a shot as well. Don't know what their CDN prices are for the PC items.

For those of you who aren't familiar with this company, it is the company that the legendary Ron Ketcham works for. Ron used to be a significant contributor to this forum until his departure early this year.

Just got back from my vacation. In speaking with the Cmax guy this morning, he indicated that the Hook It II's are not compatible with the pads.

The PC backing at the main distribution center is Guelph was also around $40 CDN so I hadn't thought 44 was all that bad considering how cheap and aweful the Meguiar's backing plate is.

Emails going again as it seems the first didn't go out.

I didn't realize how expensive the distr centre in guelph is. Next time I go to CT I'll check again and make sure it is in fact 25 bucks, and not a mirage I was seeing.

I don't know about everybody else, but I got the impression that the prices you quoted us included taxes. If I recall correctly, 99ESMAX's prices were cheaper and included taxes.

I'm definitely going to have to re-think my order if taxes were not included in your original price quotes....

Taxlady - package sent - check your PM.

Wheels - package sent - check your email.

Viper - see PM, let me know if you okay with shipment.

Thanks guys and gal,

Paco

Cash sent by Paypal. Thanks, Paco. Any word on the back ordered backing plates? All those pads are just dying to be used!:D

Wheel's = you sure you still want them. I'm most likely going to stop by tomorrow so I'll let you know.

I'm picking my 3M version tomorrow. I'll see if he'll cut me a deal if I order 5 of them (they usually cut me 15% so I'll see if I can get 20% off the $44CDN.

Hey Bill, I was in CT today and the PC velcro backing pad I saw for $25 said it was for the rotary model and ominously said on it: "Do not exceed 3000 RPM" :( Anyone know how many orbits that translates into? :p

Yeah, I'll give it a try. I am not sure that the 3M ones are worth $15 more than the Meguiar's ones. Thanks. Just let me know the cost.

I never noticed that. I'm surprised CT would sell an accessory for a polisher they don't sell and they wouldn't sell accessories for a polisher they do sell. I would ask them but the people at CT don't know jack.
