Todd,

You will not know what to do with yourself having that free hand and being able to just relax in the car.

I know what I did with my free hand driving the lexus, I had it on the shifter wishing it was a manual so I could do something. :nana:

Or we are just more practical

Practical = old - ROFL (JK)

I don't see the big deal, I drive a manual every day in rush hour in ATL which is like what the 2nd worst traffic in the entire US?

It doesn't move that fast so you aren't shifting, you use the gas pedal to creep forward, I just let off the clutch a little bit to go those 10 feet forward, only someone who doesn't really know how to drive a manual would be rowing through gears every 2 seconds in rush hour.

Buddy,

Im glad that you like to creep along and keep shifting...Most people however do not. More autos are sold than manuals, because most people do NOT want to shift. Im in my early 30s and am retired, so there is no need for me to do anything in the car, other than relax and enjoy the ride. If you like to shift, because you are "bored" in the car, that is your choice. I would rather have my other hand free to use my whole car bluetooth, my ipod, or anything else. Just more practical to me. I am very glad that you are a little kid (obviously since im old), and want to shift to have your hand on the "that stick".

Hey hey take it easy, I said I was only joking with you. I am not a little kid either, I am in my 30's also, and I said I was only kidding about being old... jeesh lighten up. I said to each their own on what they like to drive. Yikes.

Depends on the car. Some manuals are a pain in the butt. Stiff clutches are a pain in bumper to bumper traffic. As for my TA I can roll in first gear with the brake on at 400 rpm and it doesn't stall. In fact at a crusie last night I tried to get it to stall and it wouldn't. A friend who was with me just shook his head in unbelief. As for dark mettallics, they aren't that much better than solid balck and in some cases might even be worse.
