I'm so mad I can't even sit down...
Well I get called today, its the service rep (who is a real nice guy, I don't believe this was his fault at all). The car is done, he went down and got it from servie himself and parked it right in front oif his desk so he could be SURE they didn't wash it. I arrive, pay my $400 bill for scheduled maint (thats with a $30 discount because I brought my own oil, a $100 discount because I changed my own wiper blades and a $140 discount from last time when they washed it, so you get the point I pay these people a lot of money to service this car) no wash and all looked good. I get home, walk around the back and there is is, big bumper mark on the right rear bumper and two chips down to the plastic. They might not have washed it...but they backed it into something.
I immediately called the service rep back, and the service manager wasn't there. He said he would take care of it when they completed the service (some parts were backordered). I said no, I would use my body shop and they would have to pay them out of pocket or get their insurance to pay. He protested but gave up knowing how I am and told me to get some estimates and bring it by to him, which I will do tomorrow.
Its like I told him, they're servicing $30-$75,000 cars here and charging customers $97 an hour to do it, they have to be careful. It might just be some other ES300 to them but I worked very hard to be able to afford it and it holds a great deal of value to me, I said that I was dissapointed and I thought that they had realized that. I have NEVER had a car damaged at a dealership, and I had my Explorer serviced at a very tight spaced Ford dealer for 6 years. If Ford can drive an Explorer around a tight lot and NEVER put a mark on it, Lexus can certainly drive an ES300 and do the same, for twice the hourly rate. I might as well get the f'in thing serviced at Texaco.
This is going to be an uphill battle too because I know what this shop charges, $800 or so to match the pearl paint on the bumper. I ain't paying for it.
