Boy..that was the dumbest thing I've ever done...

It was actually funny. Last time they messed up and washed it, and I made them credit me back $140 for my trouble to re-detail it. I got in there today and they made SURE nobody would wash it. First they typed it into the service sheet, then they wrote in pen in big letters at the bottom "NO WASH" then they used an orange highlighter to write all over the sheet "NO WASH", then they wrote it on the key tag, then they made a sign to put on the dashboard. All of this was their idea, I just sat there lol.

I think (hope) I'm in good hands.

I know the feeling...I just picked up my car after it sitting there for 2weeks and when I left it there it was dirty but flawless. I pick it up and it looks like all they did was hose it off and drag towles over it. Every section of this car is covered in swirls and scratches.

I'm still waiting...nervously. They had to order a catalytic converter for it to do a recall and they had to keep it another night. Should be done in a couple hours.

I'm so tempted to wash this RX330 loaner I have. Its a MESS. It only has 3500 miles on it but it looks like a tiger drove it at some point, the drivers mat is all messed up. Must have been golf spikes...or spurs lol

For that $100+ per hour they should listen to the customer.

And give you cookies. Lots of cookies.

LMFAO!!

I just got my car back from the shop - new wing & alignment. Following the advice from this board, I specifically asked them not to wash the car (that got a few strange looks, as did asking to keep the old wing so I could practice filling in chips!).

Sure enough, they hadn't washed it, but when I washed it the following day, I found collections of significant scratches and scuffs on both doors and on the nose cone. The new wing is also super-swirled & not a particularly good color match.

I'm not willing to take it back - I have no faith in them at all.

I'm pretty annoyed about this, although I guess I'm not surprised. It'll be an education for me to learn how to get these marks out by hand myself... but imagine what would have happened if they'd washed the whole thing?!!!

I'm so mad I can't even sit down...

Well I get called today, its the service rep (who is a real nice guy, I don't believe this was his fault at all). The car is done, he went down and got it from servie himself and parked it right in front oif his desk so he could be SURE they didn't wash it. I arrive, pay my $400 bill for scheduled maint (thats with a $30 discount because I brought my own oil, a $100 discount because I changed my own wiper blades and a $140 discount from last time when they washed it, so you get the point I pay these people a lot of money to service this car) no wash and all looked good. I get home, walk around the back and there is is, big bumper mark on the right rear bumper and two chips down to the plastic. They might not have washed it...but they backed it into something.

I immediately called the service rep back, and the service manager wasn't there. He said he would take care of it when they completed the service (some parts were backordered). I said no, I would use my body shop and they would have to pay them out of pocket or get their insurance to pay. He protested but gave up knowing how I am and told me to get some estimates and bring it by to him, which I will do tomorrow.

Its like I told him, they're servicing $30-$75,000 cars here and charging customers $97 an hour to do it, they have to be careful. It might just be some other ES300 to them but I worked very hard to be able to afford it and it holds a great deal of value to me, I said that I was dissapointed and I thought that they had realized that. I have NEVER had a car damaged at a dealership, and I had my Explorer serviced at a very tight spaced Ford dealer for 6 years. If Ford can drive an Explorer around a tight lot and NEVER put a mark on it, Lexus can certainly drive an ES300 and do the same, for twice the hourly rate. I might as well get the f'in thing serviced at Texaco.

This is going to be an uphill battle too because I know what this shop charges, $800 or so to match the pearl paint on the bumper. I ain't paying for it.

I'd rather have it washed than backed into.

I mean, why even pay for $97 per hour when you're not getting your money's worth? You might as well take it to the Toyota dealer if they're going to treat you the same.

A danish while you wait does not make up for inconsiderate work.

I've been using MF's for about 9 months now and really like them. I've never tried to put swirls in the paint, so I don't really have first hand knowledge on what it takes but will a wipe off of some water with a clean bath towel put swirls on the car? does it depend on the hardness of the clear? just curious
