the0ne,

I spoke to Patrick today and he will be looking at a possible new product for his Propel Line this week that is going to have a flat top but same as the P2's. I just placed my order and ended up going with the P1's Orange and Yellow since I'm going to wait until he gives the "ok" on the new pads. The P1's are nice since they're just a flat top rather than the VC pads of the P2's. I hope this helps a little!

Cheers,

GMCloud

I spoke with him today on the phone, he answered all my questions, very nice guy. I think im going to get the P2's from him, he also told me in detail about the new pads he getting in, maybe ill buy some of them

later

Agreed he's a great guy to chat with; Are you going with the P1 Orange pad I take it and then P2 Yellow Blue & Green? If so, let me know how they work out for ya

After speaking with him on the phone, I think im going to get the line up of P2'S, they sounded a little better than the P1's and last longer.

what's the difference in the color of the pads? I see that they have different lines, such as the polish pad, cutting pad, etc. But what's the difference in colors? Does one absorb polish more than the other or is it to just distinguish the pads from each other?

Catchx34,

Colors are used purely for organization and do not have any effect on the pad's ability to work. Typically (does vary) yellow is used to distinguish a heavy cutting pad; Orange=Medium Cut, White=Polish/Light Cut (Propels are green), and well Blue, Black, etc. for finessing (glazes, etc.)

ahhhh thanks a bunch, it's been on my mind for a while. i was trying to find it in the faqs but couldnt find anything.

Well I am for certain always sticking with Propel now but currently I have 1 set of Sonus and one partial set of P1's. I'm waiting for Patrick to get the P2 oranges back in and I'll order a set of those. The prototypes never made it past production :( So P2 it is; although I LOVE the P1's now...

Im waiting for his P1's to come back in stock, im going to start off noob style with the P1's

he sounded mad on email, hes been waiting for the pads for weeks

Rightfully so, he's losing a lot of money and it's not like he can switch vendors since the manufacturer is who is having the issues. I just keep hitting the refresh page each morning with some hope :/

around $90 bucks with the Home Depot Coupon

Now my Question is, Where can I buy Accessories / Pads for my Portal Cable?

Maybe some velcro backplate, meguiars pads? What are some good pads to buy?, maybe a site that sells a combo of them?
Where'd you get the coupon?

I still need to buy a PC.

Oh Wow!! Thanks the0ne!!! I'm having a friend who's Audi I worked on today pick some up for me since out of all times, I'm leaving on vacation in 4 hours.... Can't wait either and please let me know what you think of em!

Hi. I have been reading a lot of the posts on this forum but this is my first time posting. I don't know if I should post a new thread or add to this one because the last post was from a month ago.

Since it is the same subject, I am going to try here first. I have a new 4runner. After reading some of the howto's and this forum, I realize I know nothing about detailing and am even learning that I have a lot to learn about washing my car.

I want to get the PC. I have followed links in this thread to different websites and the easiest solution seems to be to get a package deal. I am looking at the $189 PC and pad kit from Autogeek. Is that a good choice for a beginner? I am thinking either that or purchase the machine from Coastal Tool and piecing together the pads from Exceldetail.

I already have several scratches on the car that I would like to buff out and I want to wax it every month or so. Any suggestions what I should do? Which products should a beginner use? It seems like Meguiars makes good product and a lot of people like the Poorboy stuff.

Thanks Cloud. I have been reading up and down the forum and all the information is making me dizzy. Your message was very concise and I feel relieved not having all those question marks about pads colors, brands, machines, etc...

This forum is great. This is my first post but I've visited before and there is so much information here! I hope to learn more from all of you.

You're most welcome! I sent you another PM with a bit more information but I have to give my fingers a rest now :). I've probably typed about 20 pages in the past 3 days to people on learning how to detail and products to use... Have fun!! :waxing:
