This vehicle belongs to a repeat customer of ours. You might remember this vehicle from almost exactly 1 year ago when we did a major overhaul on the paint for this owner shortly after he purchased the car (click here to see the write up from last year). If you didn't see that post, here is a little summary...
... well this year it returns to us due to an unlikely event that left scratches all along the sides of the vehicle. The car was attacked by wild turkeys. Yep. Turkeys. They apparently saw their crystal clear reflection and decided to try to show that 'other turkey' who was boss.
Long story short, the customer wanted us to correct the sides of the vehicle to remove as much of the damage as we could while still being conservative. We also polished the rest of the vehicle to remove some water spotting, dullness, and swirls that had been introduced over the last year. I've been told the vehicle will now be parked in the garage at all times, so I hope we don't see this one in for correction for many years. It turned out great when it was all said and done... I really like this color!
Process
Tires: Tuf Shine Tire Cleaner & Tire Brush
Wheels: Sonax Full Effect Wheel Cleaner & Various Brushes
Pre-Wash: CG Citrus Wash via Foam Lance then pressure rinse
Wash: CG Citrus Wash
Chemical Decontamination: CarPro IronX & Stoner Tarminator
Paint Decontamination: Medium Grade Speedy Prep Towel with Nanoskin Glide as Lubrication
Tape trim and other areas of concern
Paint Thickness Readings Taken
Compound/Cutting (sides only): Griot's Fast Cutting Creme on Fast Cutting MF Pads via Griot's G21, Rupes LHR21ES and Rupes LHR75e
Polishing (entire car): Griot's Correction Creme & Correcting Pad via Griot's G21, Rupes LHR21ES and Rupes LHR75e
Coating Prep/Polishing Oil Removal: 50% IPA
Ceramic Paint Coating: 22ple VX3 Signature Glass Coating
Glass: Meguiar's D120
Tire Dressing: CarPro PERL
Upon in initial inspection, it was clear that the paint needed some correction to enhance its appearance.
There were some deeper defects that would also need to be addressed.
We began with an extensive exterior cleaning and decontamination process.
The vehicle was then brought inside for further inspection. The paint had a fair amount of water staining, swirls, and scratches.
We were not after 100% defect removal as the paint was quite thin, and the majority of the vehicle had been repainted so caution is always used. I was able to make a considerable improvement to the color and depth of the paint.

The paint was then coated with a thick layer of 22ple VX3 paint coating
This was allowed to flash, and then was wiped away to a mirror finish
The car looked great afterwards. The paint was extremely glossy!
The majority of defects were removed leaving clear reflections and vibrant metallic flake.
Hopefully this car will remain in this amazing shape for a couple more years before we get to get our pads dirty on it again.
As always, thanks for reading!
