Blown 72 Chevelle and a black SRT8 Cherokee *56K* NO WAY

This car was hauled to me from Brownsville TN(about an hour away) by the owner who was interested in having his blown 72 Chevelle polished to perfection. The car had a few areas of tinted clear, as well as base coat clear. I have seen the tinted clear before and knew that it would be really easy to correct—with the right polish.



Process was:



ONR



Menzerna IP @1500 RPM’s with a Meguiars polishing pad



Menzerna PO106FF via a wolfgang finishing pad @1200 RPM’s



On the area with tinted clear only PO106FF was used (same application method as above)



Meguiars #21



Meguiars NXT all metal polish on all metal trim as well as the wheels—I used a mini powerball on the wheels



Meguiars #40 on the tires

This SRT8 Cherokee was a unique case—very dirty interior and exterior, but very little swirling. What it lacked in swirls, it made up for in *heavy* water etching. This tells me that the car was probably never washed by hand, nor by the swirl-o-matic, rather it has only seen touchless washes for its short existence. The touchless wash did not use filtered water, therefore when the car exited; the sun hit the water and etched the spots into the paint (many, many times). The cumulative effect of this can be seen in the photos below. Does this plausible to anyone else?

Interior was vacuumed, shampooed/extracted, then all surfaces/cracks and crevices were steamed, then wiped down with Meguiars interior QD as a final step. I also used APC 10:1 with a magic scrubber on stubborn scuffs.

Sorry about the dust here--it's windy today and this was taken after I took the outside pics. No worries though, the truck will be here until Thursday, so I will have to wipe it down before delivery anyways..

Chevelle is nice, real nice. Great turnaround on the swirls. Owner needs to learn how to clean the dust off his car. I'm sure it doesn't get real dirty. Drag cars don't.

The interior of the Cherokee was a real mess. Why do people who don't look after them buy Black vehicles? I know so you can clean them.

Very nice. Must be an SRT Grand Cherokee thing to not wash them. A friend of mine has one and I almost apologize to it everytime I see it (although it is insanely fast).

i think if i spent 45k on a srt8 GC i would take better care of it, and also watch more closely for curbs when parking, i mean look at how horrible those wheel edges are.

I have the same problem like the jeep, WATER ETCHING very hard just like that, my color car is toyota white with clear. I did a small section on the hood etching came off but with many passes but i was afraid of polishing too deep using pc, did you have to worry about polishing to deep?
