Blackfire Wet Diamond

I just finished doing a 2008 Honda Accord (Mystic Green), which I finished with 3 coats of BFWD, and then topped the horizontal surfaces with an 3 additional coats of Blackfire Midnight Sun wax. Since I used the honda's styling notch along the side as my cutoff point for the wax, I had the opportunity to compare just BFWD along side the BFWD topped with Midnight Sun. Honestly, it was VERY difficult to see the difference. That said, BFWD, combined with good prep, gives an outstanding finish, really slick. Haven't worked with it that much to comment on its durability, but I've had it (only a single coat) on a different Accord (light blue metallic) for three months with no sign of degradation. The stuff is super easy on and off, which is more than I can say for the Midnight Sun, which I found temper-mental (make that greasy) if you lay it on too thick.

To Nonsensez9, I've used both the BF Gloss Enhancing Polish and CG's EZ Creme Glaze II, and while both are good, I have a slight preference for the Creme Glaze for just a little extra gloss and ease of use.

I don't think the BF products are over-hyped at all. I think they give as good or better performance for value as some of the other premium products out there. How it looks is always going to up for subjective evaluation, but for the cars that I've done with BFWD, I've had nothing but great "wow" comments from the recipients. I'll stick with it until the next great thing comes around, which will probably be in about 10 minutes ;-)

Really Great Prep, Gloss Enhancing Polish, Bf , Midnight Sun, On My Sisters Red Audi A4 Left A Wonderful Finish. I've Also Used Zymol Destiny As My Lsp After Bf On My White Mercedes And Had Great Long Term (8months+) Durability. Really Slick And Very Easy To Clean. Great Product And The Producers Are Very Dedicated And Passionate About Their Products.

I thought BFWD needed time to cure.

It does. Took me a week to do all the layers (in addition to working my real job). It was my parents car, and they had left it at my home while out on a trip, so i had lots of time. I've read mixed instructions on the cure time, though. In some forums, and even some promotional material, the 8-12 hour recommendation refers only to the first layer, but doesn't specify the requirement for each layer. I did one layer a night, so each got a full 24 hour cure time. I also mixed in some additional Polycharger to the BFWD, so Im anxious to see how long it lasts. I see them again in August, and I know my mom goes to the car wash every week, so I'll report back on how the finish is holding up, and how its beading water.

One last observation, and I've seen a couple of similar comments elsewhere, is that the BFWD finish definitely looks better several hours after application, noticably. I saw a little extra depth with the second coat, and the third wasn't really noticable. The wax topper changed the glimmer on the hood a tiny bit, but I couldn't tell much difference on the rest of the surfaces. I don't have the experienced eye of many of the others on this forum, though. Car was prepped with Megs UC (Megs Soft Buff Yellow), followed by M205 (Soft Buff Yellow), then Menzerna 85RD, and finally either BF GEP (hood, top, trunk) or CG EZ Creme Glaze II (sides). The last polish/glaze step was probably unnecessary, but I wanted to see for myself (I've only been doing serious details for about 4 months, so still learning), as I've had good results from the EZ Creme Glaze on other, more simple projects.

i have it along with most of the others(zaino, autoglym and so on) and it is a very easy on easy off product and it does leave a good finish.

i was a big zaino fan and when i got my black benz the zaino was shiny but there was no depth to the paint just shine so the blackfire does have a good deep shine but has poor durability to me it seems like it was good in a few washes.

now im useing my own blended lsp and the aytoglym hd was and thats a very good combo and the paint looks like glass and even on my cayenne red metallic camaro(looks close to sunset orange just a little more red) it look amazing.

BFWD is my only sealant now, having gone through all the other ones mentioned. It's super easy to use and I have had no problems with it going great for at least 4 months. Doesn't mean it's still as slick as day 1, but it still beads like it. I don't get the wax topper that some folks do, I've tried topping various sealants with various waxes for years and NEVER thought it added anything to it and in some cases, it didn't look as good.

I agree. My only sealant also. Nice job repelling the pollen also.

Its good stuff, but obviously nothing miraculous. I think it gives a softer look than most sealants. Super slick. I still prefer Werkstat Acrylic based on my own personal preferences, but BFWD in my opinion is better than Zaino, DG, and other popular sealants.

durability is only about the same as all the other popular sealants but its easy on easy off and looks great on a lot of colors. until something new comes out im only gonna be restocking bfwd. 4* UPPP is very similar but i dont think its as good.

For the guy who said it looked normal on silver, did you do some polishing first?

Yes, I did polish first. After polishing, on silver, if you apply turtle wax, then BFWD or any other LSP, I don't think you would see a very noticeable difference in looks. JMO. :)

While this may be true, you would notice the differences in the slickness, durability and how the Blackfire keeps the car cleaner, longer. Thanks for the reply.

When I realized last fall that the dealership did leave a few minor swirls on my new Black Sapphire Metallic BMW, I polished with M205, and PO85RD, then Wet Diamond. I was, and am, very happy with it.

I don't think any of us "lunatics" would wait six months to re-apply an LSP, but I would be comfortable with a couple of months in this case. Maybe I'll hit it next month with some Sonus green clay, and another coat.

I used two coats originally, with a day in between. That worked well for me.

And, yes, it is easy to use.

Flavor of the month? Maybe, but sometimes they develop into long-term realtionships. At least I have control over this kind of relationship.......
