Blackfire SRC Compound

I experimented with it a little over the weekend . . . Cyclo, orange pads on a black Mazda 3. Although the resulting finish looked good, my pads were gummed up pretty badly after doing just 1/2 the hood. Maybe orange pads aren't a good choice with this polish, but I didn't have the time (or the extra pads on hand) to try to finish out the car with BF-SRC, so I switched back to my old standby, HTEC.

Another thing, BF-SRC residue is a bit of a pain to remove. I ended up wiping off the majority with a dry MF, then QDed with ONR and a clean towel; that cleaned up the rest.

I think there's a great polish hiding in that bottle somewhere . . . I just need to figure out a pad/technique combo that works for me.

rydawg: Skip the Blackfire SRC compound, I have one bottle of Menzerna RD3.02 for you if you want it.

Thanks for the reply Tort! I know it does have a learning curve. I guess I am just gonna stick with the 3.02.:2thumbs:

Just in time, I was getting ready to order it, whoever your mini review made me change my mind. Do you mind my asking what you were trying to accomplish with this compound?

I occasionally run across some pretty hard clearcoats (in particular, a '95 BMW M3 owned by a friend) . . . that's the biggest reason I picked up the BF-SRC. I wanted a polish that would work for those occasionally-stubborn hard paints. Applying it on the Mazda was just an experiment to see how the polish worked.

I am getting ready to place an order for some more polish and I don't know if I should get the Menzerna IP, FPII or the Blackfire SRC compound, polish? I mostly use a PC and do own a rotary and use LC pads for both. I have been using the poorboy and XMT line and both work okay but I want to use something without a filler since I am about to Zaino my vehicles. So any suggestions and advice is much appreciated and thanks in advance. Mike...

Isn't the cut the same with IP and SRC polish? Should I maybe get Menzerna PG and Blackfire SRC polish as a combo? Mike...
