Blackfire QD and Meguiars #40 - pics

It's been a week since I Blackfired the car. It's rained three times and I've put over 300 miles one the car. I used the Blackfire QD today, and while it doesn't look just washed, it looks pretty darn close. The sun wasn't out when I was taking pictures, so the shine isn't the greatest. I also did the interior with #40. I like the finish of it, not too shiny. I will continue to use it.

Thanks go to Dr. Jones for the use of the Blackfire products.

Remmo, Im glad you got good results with Blackfire! A lot of people use it and love it, I personally havent triend it yet... Anyway thats a nice looking SI, what kind of mods do you have (if any) and excuse my stupidity, but what makes an "MR" Civic, different from a regular SI. BTW the shine looks great, and yes #40 is an excellent product. You get 2 :xyxthumbs :xyxthumbs

Volvoguy-

Thanks. I also used #40 on the tires, and after several trips through dusty road construction, they still look a good as when I buffed them.

The MR is the color of the car. As the Si was only made in 3 colors, and they are somewhat unique as far as the main colors Honda uses, the 99-00 Si's are commonly referred to by the following:

MR - Milano Red

EBP - Electron Blue Pearl

FBP - Flamenco Black Pearl

Dr. Jones has pictures of all three colors side by side, the black one is his and the red one is mine. (Those were just before I painted the fog lights.)

I don't have any mods done on the car right now. I go to school full time and it makes that kind of extra cash hard to come by at times. I like how the car looks stock, and I have the feeling once I start, I won't be able to stop. If I got rims and tires, I'd want the suspension to get full performance out of them, and if you have the handling, then you need a little more in the engine to really feel what the car can do... etc. I'm not ready to get into that cycle just yet, but hopefully that's not too far in the future.

Feel free to ask any questions about Hondas, I'm a Honda enthusiast (blame my dad) and always happy to answer qeustions about what I feel are good reliable cars for those of us who don't have the finances of the more fortunate.

Remmo,

Can you comment on the "slickness" of BF as compared to other detailing products you've used? Do you have any other comments about the BF QD? I have the back half of my truck BF'd (that almost sounds obscene:eek: ) and the front half Zaino'd. Besides the dust-attracting properties of BF, I've noticed that dirt seems to stick to it more than Klasse or Zaino (even when washing). I don't have the BF QD, but I've been wondering if that would help to keep it "slicker" so stuff wouldn't adhere to it as much. I know you've only had it on a week, but any comments are welcome (from you or anyone else).

Your car really looks great, and those were some cool pics in the link you gave.

Dave N, I finally tried the BF QD after trying several different methods of applying BF. For me, it did not help the long term slickness of BF. After one wash it wash shiney, but squeaky clean.

Dave N,

Unfortunately we seem to get afternoon showers every other day here, and I don't have a garage to protect my car. On the top of the car water sat and spotted and built up dust more than the sides.

The QD returned it close to the original finish, but it's only been one day, hard to say how long that will last. I use the California Duster to remove light dust that builds up over the course of a day. I can't say if it's the increased particles in the air from the forest fires in CO, but there does seem to be a considerable build up, but once it's dusted, the sides of the car still felt close to when it was freshly done. I haven't washed to say how it lasts, I'll keep you posted.

Hope this helps. Feel free to email me if you have any more questions that I haven't covered.
