Wow! This feedback is great. I want to thank all of you for taking the time to evaluate the new All Finish Paint Protectant. We really tried to push the envelope of what we could do with this formula to improve every aspect of its performance. We would tweak the formula in the lab, run out and try it on a car and then go back and try a slightly different balance. To improve one performance aspect usually results in a trade off in another aspect. The trick is to find that magic balance where everything comes together. Once we think we have it, the next and most important step is to get it into the hands of enthusiasts and get their reaction. Your criticisms are valuable and welcome. Through your feedback, we continue to push the limits of car care technology.

In answer to your many questions:

We did not add anything to the basic formula. All we did was adjust the balance of the polymers being used. Some of these changes were extremely small, in the parts per million category.

BLACKFIRE is still water based. All of the polymers in BLACKFIRE are water soluble except for one which is oil based. We had to include a very small amount of an odorless mineral spirit to mix this polymer with the other ingredients. Technically the formula is an oil-in-water emulsion but we could legally advertise it as water-based if we wanted to. This is a very paint friendly formula making it great for historic, collector and exotic automobiles of high value.

There is no fragrance in the product. Better fragrances are oil-based and we didn’t want to add any additional solvents. Whatever smell it has is the combined smell of the raw ingredients.

Taking stain out of black trim...Wow! We didn’t even test the product for this. There are no solvent cleaners in the formula so we’re not sure how this is happening!

Hard to buff off...you’re probably using too much product. All Finish Paint Protection has a very high percentage of active ingredients. While the formula is expensive, a little goes a long way. A Nickel size amount really will cover an entire hood. Our goal was to give a cost-per-application in the same range as less expensive products. Applying too much product does make it hard to buff off because it wants to bond with itself. Be sure and use a dry applicator. One of the polymers repels water, making the product resistant to detergents and acid rain. If you use a damp applicator or have some droplets of water on the surface, it can make buffing more difficult.

This product wants to stick to just about anything. You can use it directly on the paint or over any polish or one-step, cleaner/protectant like Klasse All-In-One. About the only thing it will not stick to is carnauba wax.

Again, thank you for your comments. I’m looking forward to your long term results.

Thanks to you Terry for allowing us to be "guinea pigs". All I can say is I really liked the original formula, and am in love with the new one. I especially like the fact that it no longer stains black trim; both black powder coat and black plastic trim are enhanced with the new formula. My steel grey metallic paint now has excellent depth and that "watery, wet" look; hard to describe. The "feel" of the paint now is also incredible. Thanks again.:xyxthumbs

Hi Terry:

Would CMA be interested in sending some up to Canada for winter testing? Such as lots of salt, colder application temperatures, etc.?

Thanks.

Hi Terry,

Is it possible to get sample kits still? I would love to try it and compare it to Klasse and Platinum products. Thanks.:bow

Thanks again Terry! Just received the Blackfire Product Evaluation package today. If the weather holds up here in CT, I'll give it a shot this weekend.

Hi Terry,

Thank you, I received your new Blackfire sample kit today. Actually, the "sample kit" consisted of a full retail bottle of the new Blackfire formula with a microfiber foam applicator pad if anyone wanted to know... :D

When the weather here in Hawaii improves which more than likely will be by the weekend, I'll give it a go.

My product review will be handed in shortly.

Thank you & Aloha,

Ranney

I still haven't had a chance to test it :(

I promise I will by the week's end!

Tomorrow actually looks good. I need to wash my truck since it is covered with dust so I'll try some BF on it. Keep hearing good things about it so I want to try it!

I wish I can try the product too. Do the company ship small part oversea? Not only the wax but also other stuff for the car I wish I can try.

Merry cristmas and Happy new year to all

i would be interested in testing/comparing/evaluating/durability tests compared to zaino and klasse products(which i currently apply to my 3 cars. i originally started with zaino on one car, klasse on one and collinite on one.

i then narrowed it down to zaino and klasse(collinite is a GREAT wax, VERY durable, however i prefered the added protection of synthetic products.)

form zaino and klasse i narrowed it down to klasse AIO/SG with multiple layers of SG. it seems to make the car i am testing it on have a deep, wet shine. the color is red, and it "looks" even reder:), it has about 6 layers of SG and is VERY SLICK. the zaino is on a black car, looks good, although it seems to attract dust and dirt, whereas klasse seems to repel it. if you plan to drive the car, i recommend klasse, seems to stay cleaner longer in the same conditions and is VERY VERY esy to work with and lasts a LONG time(same can be said for zaino too..., :)

one question about blackfire, does it contain ANY abrasives or anything that would cause ANY light swirls, spiderwebs, etc?

you keep bringing up this concern about klasse, blackfire, etc. causing swirls. again, these will not cause swirls. dirty pads, towels, bad washing/drying/buffing, etc causes swirling.

sorry to **** you off asking questions about detail products in the detailing section.

by the way, i asked about each product ONE time, and yes, there is a concern for abrasives in products you put on a mirror finished car. i absolute ruined a paint job not too long after nu-finish came out(years ago). again, the paint looked like a mirror, i heard the nu-finish HYPE with all the TV commercials and at that time the premium price, so i "thought", hey..., it must be true, just look at that stuff on TV work!

well, to make a long story short, IT DID CONTAIN ABRASIVES. it looked as though i just used compound on my car. it made me sick! i sold it a couple of weeks later, i was so pissed off.(of course i got something to replace it....

sorry if you think i'm ****ed off, but even nufinish shouldn't ruin a paint job if used correctly. this leads me to believe that nufinish didn't ruin your paintjob and you are placing too much emphasis/blame? on the products and not the application. BTW, it's best not to get ****ed off and defensive because that's the fastest way to get a thread locked. if you really want to argue with me about this, let's do it through private messaging so the thread can stay on track. :up

LOL! and you are doing what??? LOL!!!

good advise:)

yes, nu finish messed the paint up, VERY abrasive! whether they changed the formula over the years, i do not know(nor do i care, too many synthetic products to pick from now), however, it was almost as abrasive as some compounds i have used in the past, and MORE abrasive than some:bounce:sosad

OK back to the original point of this thread...

I just did the M5 with the new blackfire today, and it looks great.

I think this will replace Klasse on the M5.

Good Work!

although your concept of abrasives=swirl causing makes absolutely no sense to me"

ok, i'll bite, LOL! if abrasives do not cause "swirls", what would cause them, in your opinion of corse?

One of the mods, please either lock this thread, delete jitsu's posts, or force them to go into private messages please.

He has hijacked this thread.
