black wow

Might have to try some when you get it back in stock. Tried out Mothers "Back to black" this past week and frankly that stuff is junk. We had to apply it per instruction 6 times to get it to look even half way decent. I then had to applogize to the customer and give a discount for such shotty results. So I need something that actually works on trim and bumper plastics. I hate products that claim something they should know full well it can't live up to before it hits the shelves.

Reminder to all vendors, manufacturers, etc... that commercial activity is reserved for sponsored forum areas.

Thanks!

I hardly think it's SPAM if the post wasn't started by the "offending individual", nor the discussion generated within the thread had anything to do with the company being talked about. There are plenty of "glowing" product threads here--of course, I guess the difference is that I'm actually a member and detailer here on Autopia, so suddenly my contribution makes me into a spammer.

I provided additional information to those that have asked for it, and the video link was for those to see how the product actually worked in realtime, since the product won't be available for several more weeks for people to play with.

I have been treading "very carefully" here to avoid anyone "thinking" that I might be spamming and think it's silly that you could call this SPAM especially considering that you're already aware of what I do on SCD. Anyhow, I have talked to DavidB already and have removed my links in the last post to the video clip.

Is this spam? :beware

Selling your own products? Is that allowed?

you've got to be kidding me.... Is this really an issue on this site? Didn't realize we were all in kidnergarnden or anything anymore. Being new here I'm sure I'm about to get slapped around with all sorts of rules and regs but jesus H man.... If a fellow enthusiast went out of his way to develop and market a product that we can all benifit from what in the blue heck is the problem talking about it? I surely hope this site isn't so anal about stuff like this that people actually get in trouble for hocking some wares.

Uh, yeah.... You have a vested interest in BW! i.e. you make money!!! Just because you did not start this thread and the link of "your" product in which you have financial interest is Spam!!! :rules:

What the heck does being a member and a detailer have to do with anything?:nixweiss

Spam is spam where ever it comes from.

If you want to talk about BW fine, no problemo. Just don't link to where one can buy it.

That is all I wanted to know. Geez! I see the link is gone.

Well, since we're on this topic, I'm curious as to how this product actually evolved. When Richard first mentioned it on SCG, my recollection is that it was a bulk professional product that was only available through jobber channels (so "no one" was able to buy it), and Richard was going to repackage it into smaller bottles and resell it.

I can't find that post on SCG, but I found this one, where it's clear that SCG/SCD is not the "mfr." because interested people "could" get it somewhere else:

This will be available in the SCG store soon. As I mentioned previously a ton of things going on around here, and while I could send you somewhere else, I'd rather be able to provide it for you. Wait for the annoucement by the end of the week here on SCG.

Now it seems that "Black Wow" was "developed" by the SCD team of Richard and his father. So which is it? Is this just a relabled product? Or developed by Richard and Mr. Lin? Is he a chemist?

Well I love how misinformation on the net is spread so easily. First of all, look at the references. SCD is NOT SCG. There's the first clue. SCG was ShowCarGarage when Mike and I were working together. That reply obviously predates SCD, ShowCarDetailing.

If you happen to read my BW website I tell people that the idea isn't original. There are plenty of trim gels or products already on the market. However, mine just happens to work better because it was reformulated from the ground up by me and I have a cooool dad.

I also freely admit that my product was inspired by other silicone type products on the market. I don't lay claim to be the FIRST or ONLY person using silicone to make a trim product. But there are MANY MANY grades of silicones and many different ways to make it perform better.

The manufacturer of the other product wanted me to buy enormous quantities of their entire line of car care products that I wasn't interested in, so I set out to make my own version that had more of the properties I wanted, such as cleaning ability to remove wax and polish residue. I also didn't like how their product felt sticky, and didn't last as long, nor was as highly concentrated.

If you want any other information about my products, please feel free to contact me directly before trying to publicly discredit me.

My phone number is posted all over the internet. Use it.

And btw, yes my father is a chemist. He is the former head of R & D for Max Factor--he's been a consulting chemist for over 40 years, one of the only Asian chemists to ever receive the equivalent of the Nobel Peace prize, and if you go ask the chemist at Meguiar's, he will tell you who my father is. Anything more you want to know?

Oh, also if you asked me how I developed the product, I would have forwarded you to this thread in the MINI community, since that's where the need began.

It doesn't. BW isn't a tire dressing, and Endurance isn't a plastic dressing.

I love Endurance high gloss for tires--I use it all the time but BW won't last a day on your tires, because that's not what it was developed for.

cool, Thanks!

How does BW compare to Megs Endurance?

I can't believe what I'm reading.

It just shocks me to think that people would think that Richard was spamming here.

If anything, he's been one of the most helpful detailer out there.

He only tries to help out as much as he can and this is what he gets in return.

By posting his video link, I believe that Richard wasn't trying to sell his product but instead show people how it is properly used as it has been asked a number of times.

What being a member and detailer has to do with this thread is that he, as a contributing member was just trying to help. And so what, he developed the product, he's also spoken and answered plenty of questions on his site and other forums about products he hasn't developed.

That's my two cents.

I just don't like the fact that some people are trying to discredit all his hard work and passion in trying to help other learn how to detail properly and what not.

Its nothing against you Kellyinc, just in general.

The bottle says For Exterior Trim right in the center. You can't miss it.
