Black Nissan with 3500 miles

EBPcivicsi

GOT PREP?
This GTR had about 3500 actual miles, but the paint must have been aged in dog years! The owner had a group of mobile guys come out to “detail” the car and you guys can just imagine how that went. He finally talked to the sales manager at the dealership and thankfully he referred him to us.

We spent about 30 hours reconditioning this paint. A lot of that time was spent finding the correct pad/technique in order to finish out correctly, as well as cleaning up the other “detailers” wax/compound. We detailed this car a few months ago, but IIRC the process was:

Wash

Clay

M105 with a green SM Arnold pad—orange pad in some spots

M205 RED CCS pad

We also had to use some PO85rd on some panels—they were all different.

We sealed with UPP

Tires wear malco aquabead

Even without proper lighting you can see what’s going on!

The “detailers” buffed the car and left buffer swirls everywhere. They also had wax/compound in *every* crack.

Nice save!

Any issues with using UPP after M205 (or did you IPA/etc. it)?

Is that a Flex 3401 or their rotary?

Sorry, should have mentioned that we always wash after compounding/polishing. If we can get away with it, we use ONR between steps, if not, traditional wash.

3401--my rotaries sort of collect dust for the most part . :D

Thanks!

OK, roger that.

Yeah, same here.

excellent work as always joe, kudos to you and your employee (assuming he works for you)...

btw - what was your impression of the GTR?

Black Nissan huh? I was thinking Sentra.

This is incredible work on some really "unfun" paint, the final finish is awesome!

That;s for sure! We have really had a run of "fun" paint lately. :D

bigal, it's really a cool car IMO. We have done two and though I haven't had any seat-time with the car, my initial impressions of the car are favorable.

NRZ, I buy them locally, but they are the same as any green pad that you can buy at any retailer/sponsor--no real difference that I detect.... We used the 6" version which is not for beginners IMO, but it can be done.

Thanks again everyone.

Oh, Accumulator, I should have also noted that I *have* applied the UPP over the M205 without issue. Durability *might* have been affected, but I really don't know. You know, the vehciles that we monitor get weekly OCW treatments. :D I didn't get any wierd "cloudy" issues with the UPP over the 205--guess it has enough carrier-solvents to clean a little 205 oils. :nixweiss

Wow, that is such an improvement with the flex DA!!! How much work time, or how long do you polish the panels with the 205? I have been reading that that polish with a DA is gold, it breaks down quick and leaves a great finish, and polishing for over a minute and a half will be over polishing and inducing micr0-marring...Have you ever done an IPA wipedown on the panel after 205, to test for loss of gloss or filling?
