Black Jazz, A Challenging Detail

Gen2

New member
This Honda Jazz is less than 2 year old but the paint work was already in quite a bad condition, the photo should pretty much tell the story.

Not only the paint work was full of water marks, someone actually tried to some ‘drawing’ on the bonnet.

Lastly swirls and scratches were found everywhere on the paint work.

The owner’s friends suggested to her that she should send the car for a re-spray but she thought she would like to let me have a go on the car first.

For the more serious areas, I used the Edge green wool pad on the rotary with Menzerna IP/RMG. Following that I went over with an orange pad on a DA with IP/RMG. Here are two photos showing the half/half before and after effect.

On the bonnet,

And now we will go to the before and after photos,

Than I used Pink Moose (VM/RMG) with a green polishing pad on a DA to do a final pass and finished off with Carnauba Moose Wax using foam applicator. Here’s the end result,

So in the end I think I managed to help the owner to save some money from re-spraying the car. Thanks for reading through the posting and I hope you guys will enjoy it.

WOW, I am blown away with both your correcting abilities and the depth and wetness you were able to achieve. Great work!!!

She should be happy, happy, happy. Looks great. The close up before and afters are terrific.

Do I spot little dots in the paint, almost like tiny pimple craters? Reason for the questions I have two civics with this sort of thing remaining after I prep well. Not sure if it is just the photo.

Wow! That Jazz is the biggest correction I've seen you post. Spectacular results as always and still one of prettiest backgrounds for your photos. :bow

Iknow she is glad she let you give it a shot while not listening everyone else telling her she needed a paint job. Great job !!!!!!!

WOW WOW!

I never expected the long scratch marks on the bonnet to come off, that's great work Gen2, respect your work.

I agree, looks like it has been repainted, but it just had been detailed by you! nice work!!

Hi fellows, thanks for all the kind compliment :) .

You are right on those tiny pimple craters, they seems to be created by water etching and it looks more obvious on the Honda cars I detailed too.

So how do you like the edge green wool?

All thanks to your review on the edge wool pads, I decided to order some to try them out. The green wool pad work very well in removing the paint defects, however on Honda paint work, it does leave buffer swirls and hologram on the paint work. But that is easily taken out with a DA.
