Black cars just seem to find me *56K* NO WAY!!

GOT PREP?
Deatiled this vehicle Saturday. The weather has been awful ALL weekend, but I was able to finish without getting rained on. This car still had drive-outs on it, I guess the dealer doesn’t do any prep on used cars????

The swirls were numerous AND deep, looked like someone washed it frequently with an old rag or something.

Anyways, I had my hands full removing the marring. After trying several different test combos, I decided on the following:

HT EC with twisted wool via rotary @2200

Meguiars #84 with a cutting pad (Meg’s) @1200 RPM’s (I remembered what shinylildetlr recommended).

Meguiars #83 with the a polishing pad via rotary @1200 RPM’s

Meguiars #80 speed glaze with a polishing pad via PC @ speed 5.

Two coats of Meguiars glod class (new formula)

OCW

Tires dressed with Meguiars hyper-dressing 1:1

Glass cleaned with NXT glass cleaner

Wheels polished with NXT metal polish

Total working time 5 hours.

Here is some water etching on the hood. This etching was on every horizontal surface.

Engine before, the dealership actually did a pretty fair job here, but it wasn’t perfect.

Wow that is beautiful

Now take that man by his ears to the local speed shop and get him some lowering springs for christ sakes...hahahah :hifive:

you dont ever notice any swirling when using a rotory with a wool pad @ 2000+ rpms?

Absolutely, that's why I finish out with finer polishes/pads on the rotary, and eventually the PC. Basically I am using the twisted wool with a heavy compound to "slice" away or level the clear, then using the finer polishes/pads to "finesse" the finish back to an exceptable level of gloss.

Does that make sense?

Thanks for the props guys!!!

6'][9', I'm sure he got heavy swirrels with the wool pad and and agressive product, especially if he applied much pressure, but this cuts quick. You know ebcivics had to erase some heavy swirrels (and possibly remove any remaining marring) when he had three follow-up steps - #84, #83, and #80.

Good prep is the key - and this vehicle shows it.

What'd you use on the engine bay? Looks wet!

It's always nice to see a stang all cleaned up and ready for showin' off :D

Sorry, I forgot to post that in my process. I used a degreaser called MAGNUM (local purchase), then dressed with EO pro water based drerssing 1:1.

Another sweet detail!

All that in only 5 hours.

The engine bay looks like it could do with a little less dressing. Some of those close-ups have the hoses looking slimy.

Otherwise, the paint couldn't look better. I don't think I've seen someone use the rotary at 2200 rpms and end up with a result like that.

wow...you are truely skilled...maybe one day my rotary skills will be able to mirror your results...and on ford black ...man your good
