Big Lots buy of the week: 3M Performance Finish

matt. you said its one of your most durable products.. what have you found thats more durable, just out of curiosity? i havnt found anything more durable... and ive got a ton of LSP's

klasse AIO, and SG. collinite 476, collinite 845, durabloss 111, surf city nano seal and nano glaze ( shine on package), surf city garage barrier reef carnuba, s100, autoglym hd, OCW, meguiard gold class, meguiars tech wax, meguiars #26, ultima paint guard plus, and blackfire wet diamond.

the 3m outlasts each and every one of them. atleast in terms of beading.

i have a buddy that detailed at a GM dealership a couple years ago and said the sealant they charge top dollar for is just re bottled performance finish, thats what got me to buy my first bottle at 15.00 from wally world. now its like 2.99 or sumthing crazy fi you can find it. suprized autogeek's price hasnt lowered on it honestly. mabye it will come back if everyone realized how awesome it is.

I haven't really done a side by side comparison on a specific vehicle. On my friend's car, it outlasted Duragloss and Collinite, but I haven't done a side by side test just yet - these were separate waxings and judged by how many months each lasted. I should divide his hood in sections and give it a shot.

Wasn't there some big wax test with 3M PF and it was one of the top products in terms of durability? I think I remember seeing that somewhere, unless I'm imagining things.

Humm -- very tempted now. I also saw this at my local Big Lots a few weeks ago. I really don't need any additional product, but $3!

That's pretty much the way I saw it, kkreit. I don't need additional product, but for $3, I simply could not pass it up.

Went on nice and smooth, and came off easy on the Suburban, all 987 sq. ft. of it....

just bought 2 bottles at my local big lots. Applied a coat on my milano red rsx and this is good stuff. Definitely prefer this over my usual dp max wax and am glad its durability is top notch. give this product a try for sure if youre thinking about it

I just wiped some on my Suburban's cowl trim --- no staining, and I let it dry for about 5 minutes before removing it.

I need to correct this statement -- I backed the Suburban out of the garage, into the blinding sun today, and the trim IS stained. Sorry about the mis-information.

So remember to mask the trim, or you'll be using some additional cleaning products!

And also, if any of my fellow Cary/Raleigh/Durham detailers are looking for this product, the Cary store told me they were showing inventory in the Durham store at the intersection of 54 + 55.

everyone has talked about the durability and how easy it is to use but how does it look? what other LSP would you compare it to as far as looks

I just finished up my daughter's NBP Acura CL-S using the 3M PF, and strangely enough, it has given the car the same warm glow that NXT does.

I'll see if I can get some pics in the morning -- she's taking the car out early, and hopefully doesn't get it too dirty.

And seriously, it is stupid easy to apply, either by hand or by my PC. I'm really looking forward to seeing how the CL-S looks in the sun after using PF.

Just bought 4 bottles, I will apply it tonight and shoot some photos. We will see how it goes.

Big Lots also had a bunch of the small RainX bottles for 1.50, the RainX glass/plastic cleaner/polish for 2.00. Turd Wax ICE Liquid clay bar for 3.00 and the TW Total Interior Care Spray for 4.00, Rain Dance Carnuba Wax for 8.00, DuPont ION car polish for 4.00 and a number of other DuPont and TW products. Im not sure if any of these products are any good, but at least they are cheap...

Just got back from a big lots run. 8 bottles for around $25.00

Nearly a year worth of wax, for the price of one bottle from my supplier......

It is also very easy to use.

I also got 5 of the Armor All 3 packs of MF towels. I used them on a black 2002

Mercedes E-320 with moderate pressure. This car's clearcoat is about as durable as cheese. there was not a sign of marring.

Big Lots is now my #2 store, right below Harbor Freight tools... :)

Yeah, I used the AA towels this weekend as well with virtually no marring on a black Expedition. $2 for 3 towels looks like a bargain on these.

performance does stain trim.. i usually dress trim beforehand, and what little performance finish i may accidentally get on trim (im usually very good about not getting sealant or wax on trim) . ive only ever gotten it to stain trim when i deliberatley put it on trim to see if it stained. in my opinion its not the best looking product out there.. not that its bad looking by any means. ive never had a customer not like it though.

I haven't seen any post wax pictures yet, so here are a couple.

This Z4 is very beat up. The 3m filled in many of the scratches with just one application. Keep in mind this was only a wash & wax.

Awesome deal. Never would have thought Big Lots would have hidden gems like this. Stopped by and picked up a couple 3M Performance Finish. They also had a few other stuff there at great prices that haven't been brought up here....Megs Quick Detailer for $2 and Mother's Wheel Cleaner for $3. Also bought another Megs wheel brush.

None in the Sterling VA location, though I did grab some more wheel brushes (love them) and some Shell V-Power fuel injector cleaner on the cheap.

This deal just got a HELL of a lot better. 3M is offering a $5 rebate per bottle, limit of 5 rebates per person/address. Only slight problem is you have to submit each rebate separately, only one rebate per submission and you have to submit an original receipt with each one. Bottom line: to get 5 rebates, you need 5 original receipts. No language that the rebate is limited to the purchase price, so I think you make $2/bottle less sales tax and postage. Have fun:

Stopped by yesterday and purchased a bottle and AA microfiber 3 pack cloth for 2.00 bucks. They also had the AA microfiber drying towels for 4.00 bucks. anyone have any insider on the quality of the Armor All drying towels.

Thanks

I picked up Meguiars Quik Out Carpet Stain Remover for $2 a bottle. Too bad there was only 2 left. I can't find the Meguiars angled brush mentioned in the other thread anywhere in Richmond, VA.

I know you are far away from Fredericksburg, but I just picked up a bottle at the Big Lots on Route 3 ... they have a lot of bottles.

I went for the 3M wax, I just can't help myself ! Also bought " Kit quick detail spray for motorcycles". It was $2 for 16oz. How could I go wrong?

It's a pretty good carnauba spray wax. You can use it as a booster, or a stand alone product.. LOL not bad for $2 dollars.
