BF Midnight Sun Durability?

just a comment - I meant to post this a while back...



I bought the three pack of MF's from Target ($7.99) so I could have a few for interior cleaning. I find that the Glass Cleaning MF included with the kit works very well. I initially cleaned my windows with Invisible Glass and Shop Towels. Since then it has been nothing but a quick weekly wipe with this damp Glass Cleaning MF and my windows have never looked better - so easy to maintain. I haven't seen a streak yet. I have not had this success with the Viper Glass Cleaning MF - I always seem to get it too wet. The Target MF 'wrings-out' and is ready for use.
 
I have a Target close by and will have to check them out. What size are they?? 3 pack for $7.99??



I have yet to try a MF on glass yet but will soon...
 
Maxshine watch out on interior cleaning for your radio screens, your plastic displays, and your wood and chrome trim, swirl city potential on a lot of interior sections. Glass and dash are okay though :)
 
I have actually been using the soft flannel cloths and some Novus plastic cleaner for any interior plastic lenses etc. Thankfully no scratches so far....:D
 
I think they're around 15"x15" but I'm not sure. The regular MF's in the pack aren't bad either - you can feel them grab your skin. I haven't tried the CD test and I don't think they list the material makeup and they're not incredibly plush but certainly worth $2.67. I would only recommend buying the 3-pack to get the glass cleaning towel.

Are you stating this from experience or just saying 'lookout' since they are a inferior brand ? I don't think I would have given much thought to using it on plastic but thanks for the heads-up. Do you think the same cation is justified with Viper Glass Cleaning MF ? Can I assume a NeatItems towel is OK on plastic, etc.

I was PISSED when nicsands caused swirl marks on the "stealth" face plate of my Sony HU. I have interior chrome and wood trim and would never let anything but the best near my car. CD's maybe softer than clearcoats, but interior plastic and trim maybe just as soft if not softer, so do a CD test despite the fact that there are some that don't like the test. Don't know about your vipers but remember there are frequently variations in the same towel.

The nicsand I got from Walmart, I clean my dogs crate with and even he is not that happy with the out come. Send them back to Korea where they were made!
 
Actually most MFs are made in Korea or China very few come from Japan anymore... and the states never really jumped into the production much.



I use the cruddy ones for interior seats and dash and/or tires and or house dusting or shoes or heck anything that is not painted or fine wood or plastic....... When are they making MF TP????
 
I used a cheap MF once that I got from Target and will NEVER USE THAT PIECE OF CRAP AGAIN! It was a window MF that not only did a horrible job, but it left tiny pieces of lint all over the windows that took even more work to remove the lint than it actually took to clean the window. "Low-linting" my foot! If that's not bad enough, I'm certain it gave my rear window a big circular scratch or two that is plainly obvious when the sun is behind me. I've tried washing it and doing all sorts of things to break it in and whatever, but that dreadful piece of cloth is best suited for dusting furniture. I will never let it touch my car again. Pay the extra few bucks for a Viper or something else similiar. It's MUCH worth it!
 
I would think it would take a really 'harsh' towel to scratch auto glass - but I'm no expert. I hope ChuckMotor's are different from mine. I've seen no scratching and the Glass Cleaning cloth has been completely lint free. I like it because it leaves no streakes. I'll keep an eye out for scratches but my windsheild has 'hit ' the sun many times while driving and they still look crystal clear to me.
 
many windows are coated, especially the rear window, you can see the coating in different light, never heard until now that it can be scratched up, but hey it's all about the details, thanks for telling us :)
 
I have no doubt that your window got scratched. I highly doubt it was caused "by" that particular microfiber towel. More likely is that you had a spec of dirt of something trapped in the towel which caused the scratch. A deeper nap (more plush) towel might have prevented debris from scratching, but even then no guarantee if you used too much pressure.
 
Ok so I just used Midnight Sun on a BMW, Ill have a review soon (one more ticket:-c) But I was curious as to the durability of it. What have you guys seen out of it? Im not worried if it doesnt get the best but Im more curious than anything.

I haven't used it as a stand alone LSP. I have only used it as a topper to BFWD, so it is hard to tell what kind of durability it has. It is a beauty wax, so I am guessing that the durability clearly will not be as good as a sealant such as BFWD.

From what I can tell, it seems to hold up well.:clap:
 
On a garage queen, driven once a year, it is going to last a looooooonnnngggg time. ;) In most real world conditions, I would expect between 2-3 months of solid durability.
