Best wax for a deep wet look

The wealthy people I know wouldnt be caught dead in certain places or using certain things cause it wasnt worth a lot or it didnt cost a lot...For some reason they think they are on a different level or something...

I do know those people with money that wont spend anything either but its a different kind of money if you know what I mean...

With the advent of the wonderful internet, wealthy individuals can buy whatever they want inconspicuously. That said, if a quality detailer preps their customers paint properly, They wouldn't know an estate wax from turtle wax as an LSP...

well, maybe not turtle wax, but you get the drift.

Interesting. I've found that generally, people with a lot of money (old money) don't like spending it. My dad had a tidy sum of money, and he is the cheapest SOB I know.

People with lots of money tend to like and often appreciate nice things, and sometimes care well for them. But conspicuous consumption is something for the young crowd.

Everything is true to some case or another. What you say is true "the rich get richer". "Spending money to spend money" is also true.

AFA the dollar store example, Ive got a great one. My aunt is a professional interior decorator. She's won decorator of the year BY the state of alabama and been to the capital before (not in, as in so and so said but BY) before. She has no qualms about putting a two dollar nick nack in a house worth a few million if that's what it takes. But in the process she'll tell you with a quickness that $$$ tag never gets represented because of how retarded people can be about what things cost.

I hope by that example you don't mean to say that the old adage..."you get what you pay for" falls by the wayside......do you?

Also, it's funny that saying really doesn't seem to apply to wax does it? Cause you can have only so much quality carnuaba in a tub.....right?

According to another site when a few of the high end waxes like Royale were tested, it didn't perform any better than some of the lesser priced products.

Also, in another test, a blind test, were all the cars were the same model, color, and prepped the same by professional detailers . 9-10 people picked lesser priced products like "Collinite 915" in the looks department than the 8k wax. Most of the people asked to pick a winner couldn't tell enough difference when the cars were side by side to pick one.

915 is one of my favorite waxes. Autobalm is also another one that is great looking with great protection.

915 topped with z8 is a sure winner though, in looks and protection!

Back when that thread was going on, I knew that 915 would be on the top carnauba list.

I have used a lot of waxes and after using 915, everything else is just plain blah..... I have yet to find another carnauba that will beat 915.

For $30 a can, it's the BEST bang for the buck in the history!!!!!

I have a can of 915, but haven't used it yet.

I've read nothing but good things about it though. On the "25" plus Carnauba wax test it out lasted 845, and 476s. The main tester was pretty shocked about it outlasting the supposedly longer lasting 476s by a couple of months.

How long do you wait before you top 915 with Z-8? Also, what QD do you use with it? Thanks

I have used 476 and it is also pretty nice, but it sometimes makes perfectly prepped paint WAY tp bright and glossy. I have not seen 476 last longer than 4 months neither.

915 to me is much deeper looking and lasts an easy 6 months.

I use z6 as a qd and z8 as a booster. I will wait "sometimes" 24 hours to top 915 with z8. I have topped it right away for even more added ultra gloss, but you may get some streaking from overload.

After the first wash and you z6 and z8 it, you will be blown away.

I'll have to try this combo. If it ever stops raining. lol

About the Z-8 as a topper. I've read about people using it over Royale. You would think if you're spending 8k plus for a wax, you wouldn't want anything as a topper. :chuckle:

Well if price is not an option, than swissvax crystal rock is the thing to go to.

But IMHO paint preperation is more important. If the paint is properly prepped and corrected, than any LSP will look good.

If you dont have properly prepped paint, than even an expensive wax will not look good.

How many people agree with this? :werd:

You should like the look of any of those options you mentioned. XMT 360 is a pretty nice product. Those sealants may not be "expensive" but will provide a great look.

I've been trying out XMT 360 the past couple of weeks and I'm impressed, especially with darker cars, it makes the lines look sharper if that makes any sense. I've also done perfect prep work on a car and used Souveroun, Supernatural, and my trusty Meg's #26, and I couldn't tell the difference except with the way the more expensive waxes seemed to make the lines sharper. For instance, where two body panels meet, the expensive boutique waxes seem to give a sharper look than the #26, but this could just be my eyes playing tricks on me, or me wanting it to look better because I'm more invested in the product than I would be with the #26. I'm hearing alot about the Carnauba Moose on this thread, so I might test some of that, but I usually use the #26 and use the Supernatural and Souveran as an upsell.
