Hey guys having an issue getting bugs off my bumper. I have tried DP exterior cleaner and it didnt work, have scrubbed it still didnt work. Any suggestions on products? here are some pics

I use Optimum Power Clean at a 1:3 dilution.

The thing with bugs is you want to take them off as soon as you can or else they etch into your paint.

Also let the spray dwell for a bit. Give the chemicals time to dissolve the bug somewhat so you aren't going to scratch the paint when scrubbing the bug off. If they are really bad it might help to get something designated for the critters like this Pinnacle Safe Scrub Bug & Tar Pad

2nd for Poorboy's Bug Squash. Effective at 3:1 for most and LSP safe. Full strength if they've been ther a while will take care of all. A goo coat of wax or sealant will make things much easier.

Poorboys...Bug Squash....
Thank you i belive i will try this as there are a lot of people on this post saying the same thing

I know i tried washing them off but didnt work, as i said i tried the dp exterior cleaner and it didnt work. Should have moved faster to get them off but sadly i didnt.

Thanks everyone for the speedy response, appreciate it! :autopia:

Might as well jump on the wagon also for the PBBS. Spray it on and let it dwell while you wash the rest of the car.

I like CG Bug Bogger. Yes you may have a little agitating to do, but with the dillution ratio, (1 capfull to a whole spraybottle full of water) and the fact that you don't risk peeling the paint away with a pressure washer is a big plus for me. Alot of people on here like Poorboys Bug Squash, and it looks like a great product, but some of the reviews I've seen, it doesn't take off 100% of the bugs. Like you might have to go over it again to get 100%. With a little agitation, which you end up doing anyway when you wash the car, you will get 100% and if you buy a whole gallon, it would probably last like over 500 washes maybe even a thousand. Combine that with a soft bug sponge, the softest ones I've seen are sold at wal-mart. Pinnacle has a nice bug sponge, but my conscience kills me every time I use it because it's so hard.

I ordered some Stoner's bug and tar remover and it seems to do a good job.

Listen to the advice of getting the bugs off asap. The reason I say that is from experience. First I will say I have a black car. Now, last fall after washing the car like clock work every Friday late summer I got tired of this and fell back into my old habit of 2 to 3 weeks before I washed. Well, here up north we don't have love bugs but we have dragon flies and man do they make a mess. I normally didn't have a problem with my other cars getting them off and it was no problem with this car after 3 weeks and until I noticed what I thought was remnants of the bugs left on my bumper. Pulled it into the garage and shined a light on it and every where a extra large one had hit there was an outline of it on the bumper like the bug had hit it at high velocity. Luckily I found this site when searching for answers and was able to polish it out as it was only in the clear coat. I put a a few coats of wax back on and cleaned normally and in between washes when needed. I never had this problem on my other cars because they were light colored and I never looked for it but man do they stick out when they are etched into gloss black. All I can say is at least clean the bumper every few days at the most. Google bug etchings, I had read the stories and never knew that bug turned acidic as they decompose. Now I know.

Dean. :bigups
