Best combos for Silver Metallic Paint

What combinations work best for metallic silver paint? I had a dark blue car before and loved that just waxed look (wet). Can you get a silver car to look as wet as a dark car? Is there a better wax than others for Silver cars? Let me know. Thanks.

I've heard that Clearkote's Vanilla Mousse + Poorboy's EX-P Sealant look really good together. I have a silver A4 + just used Poorboy's PP + Meg's #20 Poly Sealant + Meg's #16 Paste Wax, which wasn't bad. However, next time I'm gonna try to the VM + EXP combination. Search the forums and you'll find many raves about it....

VM + EX-P excellent combo for wetness. Check out my link for my silver car.

Wax - I prefer #16 - very slick. But this time I will try Pinnacle Paste Glaz.

It's great but won't last long...keep that in mind. If you're not worried about longevity, the PG is great and easy to work with.

For staying power: I'd consider the Poorboy's PwC followed by EX (I have not tried EX-P). You'll get a good couple of months protection and the products are super-easy to work with. This is a very pleasing combo ;)

There are plenty of good combos for silver, and they each offer a subtly different look. For my silver vehicles, the best combo IMO is 1Z MP topped with UPP. Gives an incredible metallic effect (literally blinding in bright sunlight) yet looks very wet and has great depth.

Meg's #16 can look great on silver too, especially when applied with a machine using the "QD spit-shine" method. Doing it that way seemed to completely change how that product looks on my wife's silver Audi.

Thanks. I don't have those products yet. Would Klasse AIO and S100 be a good combo? Can you put Klasse on a brand new car?

Yeah, you can use anything on new car (assuming it hasn't been repainted/touched up since leaving the factory). Factory paint is cured differently; by the time you get it it's ready to be waxed/sealed/etc.

The AIO/S100 should work fine, it's a very popular combo.

By UPP - are you refering to Four Star UPP or IZ UPP ?

The former, the LSP by Four Star (the product formerly known as "Platinum"). And while I'm clarifying, the Four Star UPP seems to go better over the Pro version of MP than over the pink consumer stuff.

To bring out the gloss and sparkle of silver metallic, ya can't beat Zaino IMO.

True (both our cars are silver metallic, and I Z for winter), but there's no depth.

The slickness may make up for it though- WOW!:bow

I currently have Pinnacle Signature topping AIO. I have topped AIO with EX-P with great results and will be trying Vanilla Moose with EX-P next.

Pinnacle Signature is outstanding on light metallic paint, but it will require a new coat every 4-6 weeks; as mentioned previously carnuba generally will not give you lasting protection. I really like it on AIO...and can't wait to see it over VM + EX-P x 2. AIO by itself looks great too as does AIO + SG.

Here's my favorite pic of AIO + Signature:

What is the difference between Pinnacle Signature and Souveran (besides price). I have the souveran already. Is Signature better on silver cars than souveran? S100? Or would all of them look good over Klasse?

gonna have to give that combo a try (1z/upp) since i had the mp, and just got upp... how is the durability? think it will last for winter? can i layer the upp? have u topped the upp also? and if so, with what, and howd it look?

Souveran is more for dark cars and Signature is intended for metallics & light paint. IMHO Souveran would be not look as good on a light metallic as Signature would and given the additional cost I would not use it on a light metallic paint. Pinnacle Paste Glaz looks better on light non-metallic paint; it looks good on metaillics too, but not as good as Signature.

I have not tried S100 so I cannot comment on it. There are lots of good pics here of S100 topping Klasse.

Sorry, I dunno :o I only use this combo on the S8 and it doesn't get used often enough for me to know about durability (plus I refresh it pretty often). I dunno about layering, but I do two applications of UPP the first time and then add more whenever I'm in the mood or I notice a decrease in slickness. I haven't tried topping it as a) I like how it looks/feels (the slickness is a big part of why I use it) and b) I like to keep refreshing it without having to strip it back to bare paint or reuse the MP.

I will say that after the "deer incident", when the car had multiple applications of UPP over MP, the repair shop had to use lacquer thinner to strip it off. They said that PrepSol just beaded up on the panels (they were *very* curious about what I had on there). And when I was doing my field-expedient repairs immediately after the incident I had to use an alcohol-based window cleaner on it before I could get the duct tape to adhere. So I sure wouldn't think it's a *bad* choice.

But again, note that I get better bonding putting UPP over the Pro MP than I do over the pink consumer stuff in the rectangular can. I use a pretty long set-up time with either, but even longer with the pink version.
