In fact, some folks use reflections over the sealer/glaze
My personal experience shows they are not even close in cleaning power. In a vehicle with light oxidation, applying the california gold cleaner carnauba with terry applicator required 4 applicators..... They became so dirty that I just had to change the applicator after a few panels. Vehicle washed, but now clayed. Looked "clean" and shiny after the wash, but the cleaner wax showed that was not true.
The pad used to apply reflections to one of the panel in the same vehicle barely got dirty. The vehicle is red, and the carnauba part looked deep and shiny. The reflections panel looked shinier, but more of the LSP shine rather than the paint shine. Cleaner wax to that same panel, then reflections made it look better. The cleaner wax pad got quite dirty where reflections didn't.....
So, if I had to take only one product, it had to be one with at least moderate cleaners. If you can pick 2 or more depending on the vehicle , then it is easy.....
All around: I still insist on the Mothers california gold cleaner wax. The best all arounder based on cleaning ability vs shine. Removal is not bad, but after comparing it to reflections or turtle ultra it surely feels hard.
Best for dark colors, not so much cleaning power: Turtle ultra (very deep), nanowax or NXT (shinier). All of them very easy to apply and remove, with the turtle being the easiest.
Best for light or metallic colors, not so much cleaning power: Reflections, quite easy. NXT second. Reflections being even easier to apply and remove than the turtle ultra.
Beaters: *gulp* NuFinish. I used for over 2 years on new cars and the horror stories about it didn't go beyond urban myth... Granted, mediocre shine and not a year product, but it surely takes a beating..... Ahh, and it makes wonders on bad kept cars
