Bad day. Blaaaaahhh

Tex Star Detail

Formerly TexasTB
Booked an appointment earlier this week for a dark blue Nissan Quest. Went to go look at it, and of course....couldn't find the place. New subdvision...lucky me. So I finally find it and she is getting ready to leave....I was late....Blah

I quoted full detail for around $175ish and she bit.
She has 3 kids, all in car seats. Pretty dirty inside, but I enjoy doing the insides of vehicles, so it wasn;t a problem for me. I thought I told her that I do not take car seats out....

Went out this morning to do it....7 AM to beat some of the heat. The interior took me a little longer than I thought. Did the inside, not really a problem. Had a few issues here and there but it got done. Wasn't the best, but is was damn near 95% perfect. The outside got me. I don't know what happend. It all went SOUTH from that point. I started with SSR 2.5, and I got friggen dust everywhere. Looked like a damn snow storm. I was getting upset with the dusting and the results. I was able to keep the dust under a little bit of control by spraying the panel with a little QD first. I ended up washing the damn thing 2 times to get all the dust out, and it wasn't all gone.

Then her battery went dead, dead, dead..... I jumped it off, let it run, shut it off, and tried to restart. NOTHING. Called my wife, had he pick up a new battery and bring it to me. My wife got there with it, and the lady said it was not the same as the one she has now....Duralast Gold. I was going to put it in for NOTHING and eat the cost.....just to be a nice guy. Now I have a new battery on my trailer.....Hope I can return it Monday.

Then she starts nit friggin picking. She asked if I got under the carseats with a vac. Before I could say anything, she was taking them out. Then she said she does not appreciate me lying to her...blah blah blah. So I apologized. Then there was this, then that, then this.......

I finally gave up. It was half assed on the outside. Tar still on the rockers in some spots, rear hatch wasn't dressed, front winshield had water spots, dust in the friggen jambs.....

I told her not to worry about paying the bill...It was on me....An 8 hour fu,,,ing freebie.
She got defensive and asked why shouldn't she pay. She said she was upset about the carseats, and I lyed.....No I didn't, but i took the fall. Then her battery went dead again...... I let it run for a while to see if it would charge up...nope. She said she was going to take the battery and get a new one...guess it was under warranty still???????

Then she said I used up her gas.......The day needed to end. So I had to drive 20 minutes into town, buy a gas can, fill it up, and truck back to her place.

She asked how much she owed, and I said don't worry about it again, but she insisted, so I got 210:D I ended up giving her 4 free car washes just for the hell of it....

After that she was SO PLEASED with the vehicle.:boot

Only got these shots of the inside...I was too pissed off to do anything at all. Let alone take more pics of this thing......

I have been having alot of higher end clients lately. The ones that do not care how much it is,,,just detail it. Word of mouth through that type of market has been good to me. Matter of fact, I just did a Sequoia yesterday. Her driveway was 2.5 miles long. Way out in the country. She also purchased my Maitenance package. She said all of her frieds are "wowing" over her truck...LOL

To be honest...I'll detail cars in ALMOST any market. As long as the price is right.

Looks like my sons car. I had a bad week too. I went to mow lawn the
other day. My riding mower engine blew up. 6 years old and taken care of big
time. Changed oil 3 times a season, tune ups and air filters each season.
It was a MTD 17 horse. About 1200 bucks. I am buying a John Deere this
time. Hope it last longer. I looked at cheap mowers and was looking at 1300
bucks. The John Deere is only 1900. Sorry to change subject Chris. My rant!

Sorry to hear about those days Chris. There are times for me when I just want to say screw it too lol, but of course I have to give my 110% percent until it is as perfect as can be.

Good to hear that it all turned out well, and its nice that you gave her the free washes. Maybe she will love them so much that it will be a regular thing. I guess you may want to look into a battery charger in the future, and dont forget to vacuum under those car seats lol.

She said she had a dead battery last week. I pulled the cables and cleaned them, as well as the terminals. I make it a point to start the car every 30 minutes and let it run for about 15. (when the doors are open)

I died, and when I got it running, I let it run for 30 minutes...shut it off and tried to restart, but I got nothing. It had to have been just a bad battery....
I tried to offer a new one for free.....but it wasn't the right brand....haha
Oh well....I am at home eating hotdogs and listening to the radio.....all good.

Classic!!! :lmfao

Sorry to hear about that. You'll get stops like that every now and then. At least you experienced it and know that it is something to expect. Being mobile ain't always pretty!

You're a better man than I. You did her a friggin favor with the battery. She's lucky it happened in her driveway, and not in some parking lot with her three kids baking in the sun. What a moron, her battery dies a week ago and she does nothing about it? Uh, hello. Anytime you're doing a detail and the battery dies cuz you have the door open for a while, it means the battery is on it's last legs anyway, and should be replaced...at the owners expense, not yours.

Tex,

Sounds like you're a pretty patient guy. Gotta wonder if her battery wouldn't start the car after a 20 minute run if it wasn't a little more than just a battery.

I have a prayer for days like that.

Dear God,
Please grant me the strength to hold my temper so I don't choke the living sh!t out of someone who deserves it today.
Amen

Women and cars, man... women and cars. :chop

This sounds like the customer I had who insisted that my detailing his engine bay caused the catalytic converter to get massively clogged and need replacement.... despite the SES light being on from the first time I got in it when he brought it to me. :boot

I hate people like that.

You are a much better person than me. I think I would have lost it. But that's why I am not in customer service. She should be happy that you offered the battery and the extra time your wife had to spend getting the battery.

Glad you like your new Sign as i like it too  . I doubt the Battery was bad to me it kinda sounds like a bad alternator. Congrats to you and your wife for providing her with the best CS possible. I know you get some highend details. i just hate to see you bust your arse with no customer appreciation..
