Azure Blue Mustang Mach I on my BD

G35stilez

Ari Gold
So I did this detail on my 21st birthday (Friday, the 26th) for one of my best customers. I was supplied with hot water for QEW and carpet cleaning, music, power, and great company whenever needed. The owner (Craigster) found me on Autopia and I did his Malibu Maxx last month.

Anyways, just did the exterior (interior on his nephew's 2004 GT, but no pics) for the Mach. The paint on Ford's just plain sucks. I thought it might've just been my dad's Cobra, but aside from the overabundance of orange peel, the paint is VERY chip sensitive. The horizontal surfaces pit and etch very easily, but the swirls were a pain to remove. Anyways, final processes were:

-QEW w/hot water :)
-Poorboy's Clay
-Menzerna PO106 via rotary and LC polishing pad @1500-1700rpm
-Poorboy's EX by hand

-BnB on tires and plastic trim
-HD in wells

great job, thats one sweet color! do you find that hot water with QEW is better than cold water and QEW? maybe ill have to take some water from my bath tub..

looks great. how long did something like that take you? and post more pictures of your car. from what i see, it looks even better!!!

Wholy SH??T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unbelievable! Man I suck at this - look at that finish!
Which menzerna is that? HD - ???

BEAUTIFUL REFLECTION/WETNESS/CLARITY/ETC....

Looks good Sean! What did you do for the big black decal strip by the ram air? I would imagine that polishing it wouldn't be good for it and waxing it would probably make it white looking...

oh darn. through this all, i forgot to wish you a happy birthday! happy birthday! have fun.... i wish i was 21 :(

Thanks for the compliments :)

zesty: I just liked hot since it was around 40* and breezy. It helped keep my hands warm.

stluciedetail: Total work time was about 3 hours, but I took a bit longer since I was chatting with the client a lot :)

Tom: Thanks :) ...I admit that the before pic is darker. I had to dial down the F-Stop to capture the full amount of swirling, then brought it back to "Auto" for the after shots. It's the Menzerna Ceramiclear line...They are the highest gloss level polishes out there. Hard to find, but they are an absolute pleasure to work with.

HD = Meguiar's Hyper Dressing

Teg has stock wheels painted flat black on. Tires are a 50 profile which is why there is a slight bulge outwards. I have to check the pressure too. Pics on that once I have time to polish it out.

Charles: I polished it at a very very low speed. It brought a nice sheen to it and took some of the swirls in it out. I also used EX on it...I did not notice any residue or whitening from it.

Thanks for the BD wishes :D

Man that looks nice. Well done!

What are you using to polish (tools & pads) the lower rocker panels & front bumper?

Thanks mgm...

Makita rotary and LC polishing pad with Menzerna PO106 polish. I didn't need to tape off any of the high points of panels, just precise movements to polish the paint.

What about this question ?
Just in case you missed it earlier . That has to be the wettest looking blue I've ever seen . Almost looks like a pool in somebodies back yard . :bigups Awesome job Sean .

Thanks rollman...I addressed it right above :)

"I polished it at a very very low speed. It brought a nice sheen to it and took some of the swirls in it out. You cannot get aggressive with vinyl otherwise you will burn it. I also used EX on it...I did not notice any residue or whitening from it"
