Autopia Detail Day at Meguiar's

I'm in!

A little hint, the confirmation email that Meguiar's Forum automatically kicks back often gets sucked up into the void of presumed spam by many people's ISPs, never to been seen.

If you don't get yours in a day or two try to log in and post anyway. Mike Phillips goes in and manually activates accounts regularly. If that doesn't work email him.

PC.

Ah, starting a new thread on this are ya????? That's cool, we need to get 30 people in on this, and at last count I think we only had 19 or so.

Only a few more slots left guys....if you wanna go sign up with Meguiars online now! Mike Philips mentioned that a special guest is coming....Could it be our Autopia Mayor?

Maybe the Special Guest is ME!

And maybe not...

I was actually invited to the first Autopia Day! Mequiar's covered the hotel and most food! We limo'd to the Peterson Mueum, and Jay Leno's Garage!

I'm debating going this year... on my own dime. But frankly, I'm not sure it would be the same as my original four day visit.

It was a milestone in my career.

Hmmmm!

Notice the complete lack of slamming Meg's users, products, and "detailing days" in this thread, by certain "zealots"?

Perhaps the same could occur on threads mentioning the "Z" word?

Honestly, if Zaino were to offer up a "detailing day" clinic like Meg's does and a thread were started specifically for that event, I really don't think you'd see people coming on and slamming Zaino even if they didn't care for the product. This is not a thread about how great Meg's products are or are not, it's about the opportunity for a bunch of Autopians to get together and discuss something we all hold near and dear. Besides, if you like Zaino, or anything else for that matter, and someone else doesn't, what do you care?

For the record, I've never used Meg's products before. I'm attending this clinic to learn more about paint care and proper technique, information that ought to carry over to other brands as well. If, in the process, I end up loving Meg's products, then so be it.

Mike-in-orange. My comments were not directed towards Megs or the detailing day in general. I have never been to one, nor do I care to. Let's be honest...it's a sales pitch..like a Tupperware party. (Haven't been to one of those either.)

My comment was more towards the fact that I had just read a post started by a guy who wanted to know if it was safe to Zaino a new BMW. Instead of answering, some commented that there were better products.

theotherpc....what would you expect at a Meguiar's event? They are going to promote their products, right? Or are they going to use Mother's, Zaino, etc?

I won't comment any further. Geez.

Maybe they *should* sell Mothers at Meguiar's?? I don't know, maybe it's just me but I think it's pretty cool to bring all these people into their headquarters, teach em, feed em and then let them have "free play" with all the products on hand. If *you choose* to buy something they do tend to offer a small discount but I have *never* been pushed to buy anything at all.

Matt, what you're stating simply doesn't make sense.

Matt, while I have never been to a Meg's clinic either I do, of course, expect it to be heavily geared toward their product line and almost a live infomercial. That doesn't bother me in the least because I know that no matter how good the product, if your technique stinks the results will not be optimum.

As for someone stating that there are better products than Zaino for a particular poster to use on his new BMW, that is one person's opinion. There are as many opinions as there are products out there. In my experience, Zaino lovers tend to be extremely zealous when touting that product, moreso than other folks do with other product lines. Some people see that as "buying into the Zaino hype", but to me, if someone loves a given product that much, so what. I may have other preferences, but that doesn't make either of us "wrong".

Guys...despite my posting that I won't post again on this...I will take one more shot at "trying to make sense".

Point was that Meguiar's is going to hype, offer, sell, demostrate, exhibit, (use whatever word you wish)....Meguiars products at their events. Just as any other maker would.

The point that is being missed....is simply that enthusiasts for other products are not coming to this thread to slam, counter, argue, contradict or otherwise slander or exclaim their preference for something else. That is all.

Spoiledman...there's no doubt that it makes GREAT business sense to hold these Meg's events. Folks come away warm and fuzzy about Meguiars products and people. That's what it's all about.

I have not argued about quality, results, or the product line...it ain't about bashing Meguiars.

This is what doesn't make sense. Why stir the pot??

Chris, nice sig ! "PC hurting......" LOL...

Hey the Megs event uses PC's pretty heavily, but they dont ...oh im just going to sheddup.....

It is a nice event, and its all about learning technique, not so much product characteristics....I went to the same one Jimmy is referring to and had a great time, although I WASNT CATERED TO LIKE HE WAS! Nonetheless, good folks, good times, good learning, and good fun....
