Autogeek vs. the Others

Autopia is great, esp. if you want to ship out side the USA.

Autogeek, i too have got a mixed response some orders have gone fine but trying to get anything else out of them is a bit of a struggle. Its often a deep breath before ording through AG.

I wondered if anyone shopped locally at there nearby Chemical Guys rebranded distributer?

SUPERBEE, have you been to Jorgens over on California Ave? I wondered if you could call in and pick up as i will be out in SLC this summer.

i have had good luck with AG. next time maybe you should just ask for penny or meghan. or even jason. the only problem i had with them is there was 2 offers overlapping each other and they only wanted to honor 1 of the offers. well after a couple emails with jason the problem was solved. anyone remember when they ran souveran 2 for 1 and also had it priced at $49.99? well there was a 2 day period where both offers where being promoted. well i jumped on it. i was only sent the 1 tub of souveran to begin with for $49.99 but after talking to jason i was sent the second jar and no charge. no one is perfect but when it comes to customer service AG has been the closes to perfection i have found.

Wow, this thread just makes me that much more thankful I am not in retail. This was not a "problem" with AutoGeek. You found a pricing error on their site and sought to take advantage of it. They would have been well within their rights both under Florida law and their store policy to not honor it. For customer good will they did and you report the experience a a "problem". Someone else complains because a bad credit card delayed their order. OK., I guess that would cause a delay. And if anyone thinks a $25 order and a $50 order equals a $75 order, they don't understand the mechanics (and expenses associated therewith) of what happens after you click "send order". Orders are printed, pulled, boxed, etc. I agree with the OP that AG could have handled this better if for no other reason than to avoid this, but it is not fair to pile on a company that offers this forum's members a standing discount for the examples posted here. That being said, I will now go place an order with them which is my practice when I believe a company I have had many positive experiences with is being treated unfairly.

didnt really mean to say it was a problem. just trying to show an example of how well the customer service has worked for me.

I never have, Geoff. Is Jorgens a dedicated detail supply? Sheesh, I'm gonna be embarassed if there's a good detail supply store that close by, and I've never heard of it, let alone been there. I'd be happy to help you get whatever you need from there... just say the word.

I've had just the opposite effect. Had a poor customer service experience with pak shak and so far a very good experience with autogeek. If this thread needs some more gasoline thrown into the fire, let me mention Meguiars. Two weeks ago ordered some products that are non-retail from their website and after a week and a half called them to ask about the order status. Someone informed me I wasn't in the computer! ROFL, a day or so later got a call and the rep informed me they found the order but was missing the street address. Well, after 20 years of programming think I could remember to fill in my street address. Talk about a terrible online ordering experience. With the millions they rake in with an oligopoly in all the retail stores carrying their products, they just can't get the online ordering streamlined. There are thousands of shopping cart programs out there that could talk 15 minutes to setup. They told me their shopping system was getting updated. Sound familiar? How many years does it take to update a website? Very dissappointing experince with M.

Big_O, I feel your meguiars.com pain. Without rehashing the whole thread that was made about it, let's just say I ended up canceling my order with them as well for similar reasons.

I'm very surprised to hear that you had a bad experience with Pak Shak. I guess even the good guys can have an off day occasionally. I'd be willing to bet if you called Ranney and rehashed it with him, he'd make it right with you.

Their extensive inventory is really the only reason why I have shopped with them. Fortunately other vendors are increasing theirs (slowly, but surely). Pakshak IMO will soon rival AG in inventory. Another point for Ranney, he always ends up throwing in an extra MF for me (on top of the free one when you purchase over $50) or upgrades my shipping for free (so does Phil).

:werd:

AG's expansive selection was a big reason why I spent so much money with them in the past. Their CS was always very good to me as well. Whenever I had a problem I would go right to Meghan or Jason and they would clean up the mess and then some.

Example: Maybe a year ago AG was running a special where if you spen $50 they would send you a gift worth $50. I put in the code when ordering but when the box arrived there was no free gift. I PM'ed Meghan and a few days later I had a jar of Souveran on my doorstep ($80 value). Everyone else got some crappy Diamondite Speed Clay Kit IIRC. So, I actually lucked out. :D

I've been very happy with my AG experiences and the only reason I don't really shop with them anymore is because they're in FL and I'm in MA. So, it takes about 4-5 business days to get my orders. I found some shops in NY that I like (Detailer's Domain & Detailed Image). I now get my merchandise virtually overnight.

also, dwayne as well. i haven't had any problems with AG...

I've only ordered from AG once and I was happy with the customer service. It was a very big order.

They threw in some free stuff too.

Will order from them again.

That is bad customer service detaildoc, I agree. My past dealings with AG have been favorable for the most part. I had a sprayer go bad for their wheel cleaning product and I called them for a new one, just to see what would happen. They did not give me any greif about it at all. I was expecting them to tell me to just get any spayer.

Also, AGs marketing is prety good as well. For instance I recieved a 15% off coupon for my birthday. As as result they got a sizeable order from me. No other vendor offered me such a discount (gift). In all fairness I did get happy birthday wishes from the other vendors.

AG has the widest selection of products with pretty good discounts, if you can catch them. Everytime I do a pak shak order, the shipping just scares me away.

As a newbie who has ordered from Pakshak, AG, Autopia, and Zaino I have been impressed with everyones customer service compared to other online products/services that I have spent money on.

Shopped with Autogeek twice, the second order is on the way now. I'm in Nova Scotia Canada, and they phoned me to let me know my order was held up a bit waiting for on one the products. Thats good customer service, they could have just sent an email. The first order was without a hitch. Thats as good as I expect from anyone. I've only had one bad experience shopping online for detailing products, and it was one of the ones mentioned in this thread. I won't mention who, but I just won't shop there again.

AG is one of my favorite distributors. They sell car care products and that is all, not some part time gig to get extra money. If an issue were to arrise, contact Meghan or Jason, or Dwayne if its a problem with a machine and they will get it fixed and then some. Too many times I have needed to get a second package from a small distributor because something lacked from the original order, so problem fixed when dealing with AG.

I always pay extra for service.

Phil gives service with out the extra charge. What is $2.00 on a $50.00 order? Nothing. Go with DD over the Geek.

Put your order in by phone and meet Phil, he will keep you a client.

And buy your towels from Paksak. They have customer service down.

My mom always said, "the surest way to doom yourself to medeocrity, os to perform only the work for which you're paid." I give extra on every job and expect nothing less from my vendors. That is why I use Top of the Line and Optimum Products.

As far as your problems with the Geek, somethimes people that are only employees do not have the vested interest for the business to succeed that the owner does. Maybe you should do business with people that have a more accomodative business ethic. If you like the products that AG offers, but don't like the customer service, ask one of the higher ups if you can get a more personal rep. If you're always looking for the best price, no one looks forward to doing business with you because they know you'll jump ship over a dime. If you build a good relationship with them, then you have the right as a friend to ask for more. I know I always hate dealing with customers that are all about price. Just my view....

I totally agree. I take good personal customer service over price any time.

As I mentioned above, I prefer excellent customer service over a few dollars. People like Phil and Ranney will always take the time to chat with you, explain the products, return your calls quickly (most of the time they answer the first time), and give you extra incentives. Another thing is that they really know the products they sell. Twice I called AG to inquire about Menzerna (we all know how confusing that line is) and twice they were unable to give me a clear answer. I called Phil, and right away he answered all my questions clearly. Not getting the gift was really not a big deal, what upset was the really poor response I got, sort of like "tough, deal with it, there's nothing I can do." I would expect more professional service than that, If not for the fact that I have spent hundreds of dollars at AG, but for professional customer service and good business ethics.

I cut them from my list about 6 months ago too. They were advertising a 20% discount on merchandise at Thanksgiving last year, and when I questioned why I was billed full price they said" sorry not on Ultimate Detailing Machines and that I failed to see the disclaimer on the site. I reminded them of my many purchases in the past and got a cold 'I'm sorry' . What really upset me was that they ran the same special again at Christmas and now included the Ultimate Detailing Machine.....I called them back and reminded them of our discussion a few weeks ago and that I would like them to at least give me 20% off my next purchase.I got the same cold shoulder response.....So now I buy from the many others already mentioned here....Perfect example of "What goes around, comes around."

They charged me over 30 dollars for overnight shipping on three pads. Less than one pound and it cost thirty freaken dollars. I will never order from them again and it stinks because they have alot of the stuff I need. It is amazing that some companies just don't get it when it comes to customer service.

Compare these two stories. Autogeek has had an offer of a free gift worth $20 when you place an order over $75. Last week I placed an order and the total was just under $75. However, I forgot to add an item, so I ended up having to place a different order right away. Together they both totaled over $100. Guess what, I called them up regarding the free gift and they would not give it to me because, yes, you guessed it, they said the $75 had to be in one order. Come on, give me a freaking break, talk about being rigid and lacking in customer service. Now compare this story with the one below.

I decided to give Souveran Paste a try. Was looking around for the best deal and I found it at Pakshak for an incredible $71.96 (original price is $79.95). Even with the shipping cost it is still cheaper than ordering it from AG ($85). I also decided to get Signature Series II and Crystal Mist. I tried entering the "autopia" coupon, but it did not work, so I called Ranney (on a Saturday night) and left him a message. Within 5 minutes he called me back. He said the coupon did not work on chemicals because they are already on sale, which I can understand. However, he still ended up giving me an extra 10% off on top of the on-going sale for placing my order with him. Heck, I decided to add some MF's as well. After that, he still took the time to chat with me. It is this kind of customer service why I keep ordering more and more from people like Ranney, Bob, Phil, and David (who knows who it is going to be now) and less and less from AG.

I am just placing an order right now; how would I know if the free bonus got added or not; or is automatically done when you make a purchase over $75?

Thanks.

I always had good customer service at AG but there shipping department stinks a big one...I placed 2 orders:

1st order on sunday at 8am for 2 of all the 6" edge wool pads (black/yellow/green/blue)

2nd order on monday at 3pm for a bucket w/ grit guard and the edge DA adapter

I GOT the 2nd order first and the 1st order was missing 2 pads and the black pads arrived a week later....However in there defense I do have to say they were quick to call me and tell me the goofed up.
