I used to see a banner ad for a place that sold all kinds of

detailing stuff at the top of the forum, now its gone.

Anyone know the link???

Classic something?

thnaks Lincolon so maybe now you can suggest some stuff for me

to buy?

What do you reccomend to get started. ?

I really can't say. There are so many factors that go into it, like how much $$$ are you willing to spend? How much expierence do you have detailing? Do you have access to a orbital polisher or a rotary buffer? What are you goals for the car? How much time are you willing to spend on the car? Do you prefer waxes or sealants?

I could go on and on. ;)

yes I will get and have access to a pc.

$$ isnt a real issue but i wont send 1000$ for those insane

zymol waxes.

I have an 2002 white WRX that has swirl marks put in by the dealer and a dark red 95 miata. The miata has very bad swirls.

Time isnt an issue i love to spend all day on Saturdays cleaning

my cars.

Mush, do a search on swirls. It's the nuisance we love to hate! We're always talking about swirls, products for ridding them, etc.

Check the archives and let us know if you have additional questions. Good luck!

Well the WRX should be pretty easy to fix, the Miata on the other hand could be a different story.

For the WRX the PC and a polishing pad with some 3M SMR should fix up your swirl problem. Then you can move on to protection which could be either wax or sealant. You could use Blitz wax, Zaino, Klasse, BlackFire it all depends.

The Miata could be a little more work. If the swirls are that bad then the PC probably will not fix the problem. That will require the use of a rotary buffer. If you have never used one of these before I would not recommend trying one. They are very strong machines and can get away from you very quickly.

Search the archives, there is tons of information that will be of use to the beginner. If you have anymore specific questions, fire away. :up

This is just a thought, but I would get some Blackfire and Souveran. Between the two of them you will get a look that is amazing. Blackfire has its downsides (durablity hasn't been proven yet and it tends to attract a little more dust) but once you put a couple layers of Souveran on it the downsides will vanish. It will make that white rex look awesome! :xyxthumbs

Klasse would be another option. About 5 layers of SG with a Souveran topper would look great. Either way you go, you have come to the right place to ask the questions.

Check out the link to my album in my sig. The lower quality (darker) photos are of my car with Klasse and Pinnacle Paste Glaz (Souveran's little brother. Its made for light colored cars). The brighter pictures are with Blackfire and Souveran. I got a new camera after I got the Blackfire so that is why I can remember which is which. The effect in person is really much better than as a picture. Top notch stuff. :up

what is the diff between the rotary buffer and the PC?

Also I have taken the miata to be detailed previously and they tell

me the swirl marks are normal? They only appear on certain light.

Its strange on an overcast day iy looks like a new car when its sunny it looks like I really pissed someone off and the lightly keyed the whole car top to bottom

The PC is a random orbital machine that spins in a figure 8 motion, it's really nothing more than a very fast hand and is very safe to use. A rotary buffer spins in a circle and creates a good amount of heat and can burn through clearcoat and create more swirls if your not careful, they are certianly not for the beginner.

If the swirls on the Miata are not really bad then you should be able to fix them with the PC.

So I went out to where my Vette is stored over lunch to do a bit of interior detailing. While I was there I slapped another coat of midnight sun on the hood and front quarters.

I realized a few minutes ago, that I forgot to put the top back on the midnight sun. I cant get back there until Wednesday of next week since we are leaving for a long weekend here in another hour.

Will it be all dried up and ruined by then?

We have to wait and see when you get back to tell us. I think it will be from 1/8" to 1/4" shot. let us know. Enjoy the weekend!
