Armor All - Detailers Advantage Tire Foam?

I like the DA foam, it was all I used in my pre-Autopian days. I've gone through a lot of dressings since then, and the only one that I ever liked more in initial look was TOL Grape.

I just bought the new stuff and it seems to be a good product so far. The sprayer is not as directional as I'd like but there's no sling, a decent shine/look, and has lasted about two weeks so far. I've used silicone products on tires for longer than I can remember and never once has a tire turned brown.

What water-based OTC tire dressings are available? As far as I'm concerned, there are no water-based OTC products available. Will this product really turn my tires brown?
Armor All Original is a water-borne PDMS dressing, as is Lexol Vinylex, both OTC. 303 is a little harder to find, but is also water-based.

General rule of thumb: If the dressing looks like skim milk, it's probably a water-based PDMS dressing.

The Detailer's Advantage foam isn't new, in fact I thought they were going to discontinue it. They took it off the website a long time ago, and the only place I find it now is Target, which is OK, because I've migrated more to water based dressings that don't have the initial pop of the DA foam, but last longer.

They aren't discontinuing it...I found alot of it at my local auto barn...

By the way, I am still debating whether I should use it on my new car...I would REALLY hate a brown tire so I am wearing of just "testing" it. More opinions are greatly appreciated.

I still have AA Detailer's Choice as part of my arsenal. Great look, unmatched ease of use, and high availability at an unbeatable price. I clean my tires at every weekly wash (using plain car soap...nothing too harsh) so I have never witnessed browning of my tires. However, I have noticed that it can be a dust magnet at times.

I just applied the AA Detailer's advantage foam. I think it looks great, it has a nice satin sheen to it, and is not over the top while adding a classy, clean and wet look. Looks great IMO, and I'm sure its protecting the tire too. Also was super easy to apply, just spray it on. I reccomend it!

Before I washed my car today I sprayed on some Armor All Tire Foam on the trim, tires etc. I still can't beleive the cleaning ability of it, after washing and drying trim and tires look good, then I just followed up witha little Trim Restorer. Was going to put a gel on the tires but I'll pry be stripping down shortly so didn't care, kinda like that black matte look the foam has.

Question - Does the AA tire foam damage paint? I got a little overspray from doing the tires and didn't get a chance to rinse it off.

Told you so. LOL!

I use it on running boards and moldings as a precleaning treatment. I then wash off and wash the car as regular. It really works and lasts!

Doubt it, almost impossible to spray directly on the trim w/o getting on glass or paint, washed off easily for me with no streaks and that was after letting it sit for a couple minutes as I wanted it to absorb into the trim. Such an underrated product, works miracles in engine bays as well. I'm using it instead of degreasers unless I have some tough grime that isn't budging, just sprayed on, let sit, and washed off. My V8 came out like new almost.

I tried using it on a microfiber pad and applying, but that got to be a pain to spray a little, apply, spray, apply, spray, apply lol.

anyone else have good experience with AA DA or fierce shine? the regular AA tire foam is $2.67 (which i've been using for years) at walmart and the AA DA is $4.29 at autozone. is it worth the extra $1.62 for the detailer's advantage? also, is the fierce shine tire foam on par with the DA?

I lover AAs products for tire care.

agreed... :up

It's been a really long time since I used the standard AA foam, I always found the DA better. However, this past year I really stopped using the DA almost altogether, it just seems to build up too much greasy kid stuff after a while, I went to liquid (water-based) products applied with an applicator.

I use that product and is very good !!! The only disadvantage that I find against other wheel sprays is that you need to clean alloys after you finish and that is more expensive...

Reviving this thread.. On the Armor All Detailers Advantage foam, I noticed it mentioned that it has 50% more silicone. Is this silicone mentioned the "bad" silicone that browns tires?
