Applying NXT liquid wax.

Any trick to getting nice even layers? In the old days I applied paste wax in a circular motion, but now realize not to do this. I was applying the NXT in straight passes, but it wanted to build up too much, and it was tough keeping even, thin coats.
 
I always apply NXT liquid via PC. I use either a Megs 8006 or Sonus Green pad. I apply at speeds of 3-4. It allows you to apply it very thin.
 
I haven't gotten into the wild world of power tools yet :) I'm still doing everything by hand. I don't know if I was trying to apply too much at once, or if I was just plain doing something wrong.
 
It really doesn't matter if you apply it in circles or straight lines, as long as you apply a very thin coat. If you put on a thicker layer, it won't "build up" more, there will just be more in excess to remove, so it's just waste of product.



While I don't believe much in layering, two nice thin layers applied 12+ hours apart, will ensure even coverage and film build over the surface.
 
You'll be wasting your time layering NXT as it has cleaning agents which pretty much eliminate the existing layers.... :tribe:
 
NXT is easy to remove so even if you apply it a little thick it buffs right off. I apply by the supplied foam applicator in long over lapping strokes and remove the same way with a MF. It's not like AJ which has to be applied super thin if you want to buff it off by hand.
 
Yeah, I just had a little more trouble removing the areas where I had applied it too thick. I think it was still wet underneath, and was tougher to remove. But I am really impressed with the gloss and wet look it provided.
 
When it hazes it should sort of dull the surface. If it's pretty white it's definitely too thick. A few drops will do half the hood or so once the applicator is primed.
 
Yep I'm positive I was using too much after the pad was already pretty saturated. I was paranoid of rubbing the pad on the paint without enough wax on it.
 
If you have just alittle wax on your pad, and everything is clean, it wouldnt really marr or scratch the paint if you didnt have enough wax on the pad.. Unless you are buffing REALLY hard.. Which you do not need to do with NXT.. :2thumbs:
