Apply Zymol Vintage on top of glaze or no glaze?

Well there are too many choices!

white 2007 chevy monte carlo ss

Using a PC

Clay

IP x2

FPII

Menzerna Final Inspection Spray

UPGP

Now I want to apply Zymol Vintage.

Should I buy DWG and apply it before Vintage or just apply Vintage alone?

I also have Optimum Poli-Seal. I also have Megs #3.

What's the best formula to get the best out of Vintage?

I also have Pinnacle Souveran, Pinnacle Cream Glaze,

Carnauba ClearKote Moose wax, Zymol Carbon, Collinite 476S, Collinite 915

And I want to buy Megs #26 paste because I have read great things about it.

Please help!

Thanks

Frank

This is my routine Vintage aplication. Good ONR wash. Check to see if it needs claying, Then Men. PO85RD with a finishing pad, Red Moose Glaze X 2, then Vintage X 2 .... Dwg would look good under the Vintage. I have used this combo. To me the PO85RD makes the car look stunning.

I am no expert when it come to Vintage by any means but I have always heard you want to apply it over HD-C for best results.

I used that HD-Cleanse about 20 years ago before applying Zymol carbon and the stuff was sticky, smelt bad and should be applied by hand and I swear that it put new swirls on my black paint.

It's relatively cheap- $42 for 16 ounces compared to other products.

The ingredients sound interesting but I have already prepped my surface with 2 polishes and i am going to use UPGP, DWG, UPGP, Vintage and that's it!

You can drive yourself crazy trying to buy every damn polish, glaze, etc and go broke. I am being realistic!

Thanks

Don't bother with HD Cleanse. It's just a paint cleaner with tons of fillers. There are so many better products on the market.

sounds good. I would reverse the DWG, and UPGP by using Dwg first. Good detailing!

Based on my experience, I would definitely say NO! Vintage will have its greatest effect when it is paired as close to the prepped paint as possible.

On the other hand, you can use lightweight products that will clean up and enhance the just polished surface and then apply vintage. If you are new in using vintage, then I would only recommend that you use your polish team to prep, and you can have your choice of either HD Cleanse (which is a cleaner-filler product...some also will call this a glaze) or any proven paint cleaning product, and then start with one round of Vintaaaaagghhhe.

Hope this will help.

Edit: Once you start using Vintaaaaagghhe, I also strongly recommend that you not pair it with any other lsp. Three rounds of Vintage, spaced out one layer at a time, should give you excellent results.

If i used PO85RD could I start with IP, skip FPII and go straight to PO85RD?

Lately, Menzerna has been adding alot of different fine polishes- nano polish, micro polish, etc. and it's getting a little tricky and it can be expensive.

I dont want to buy something new that i dont need and then let the old Menzerna sit on the shelf. Please advise.

Thanks

Yes you can do that with no problem. It will look great

Why use the cheap $2000 stuff (Vintage) when you can use the top of the line $30,000 stuff (Solaris).

:rofl

LOL- I know these prices are crazy. I bought a 4 ounce sample for around $300 on ebay.

I am going to use this container on 2 cars - once a year during the summer.

i figure that the jar should last me about 8 years!

really i tried many pre waxes and glaze , the best result when used hd-cleans and meguiars pure polish DCP2.

Is the Vintage really all that?

I mean, is it really that much better than Pinnacle Souveran ($85), Swissvax Concorso ($239) , or the Zymol Concorse ($175)....

I mean, its hard for me to imagine spending $2000 on a wax (Vintage), much less $8000 on their Royale and $30,000 on their Solaris...

:wow:

[shrug] Are bottles of wine/perfume/whatever "worth" thousands of dollars? IMO the answer to stuff like this is always "if you have to think about the money, it's not for you".

Oh no....

:geez

i have tried all those waxes and in a word yes.......

wax is a very personal and subjective thing so you are going to find peolpe who love it and people who hate it. It dosent matter the wax. Period. (i have yet to find a wax everyone loves)

one thing to keep in mind with vintage is the refill policy. I had my vntage fro 3 months and needed a refill. Sent it in no questions asked. yeah sure i paid 80 bucks for shipping both ways but it was worth it.

I am about 4 months in to the second tub, i am going to need to send it off within the next week or so.

so excluding shipping with the third tub the wax will be down to 33 and oz (well just under i used 2k instead of the exact price)

concours is about 200 a tub so its about 25 and oz (all numbers rounded ofcourse) so im almost at the same price as concours but am getting a betetr wax.

So for me it made perfect fincial sense (ok maybe not but still) for me to invest...hell im 20 and have many many many years of waxing to come, if i can get it down to 100 a tub im golden. that way will shippig and the cost of the wax it will be the same as a tub of concours however i will be getting 22oz of wax istead of tubs of 8......

so its a great wax yes... heck its the best i have used (and i have used more thena few) but there is more to it then just the wax

back on topic, i have applied vintage over diffrent glazes and other pait cleansers, honestly nothing works as well as hd-cleanse. I find it gives the zymol optic that you cant get elsewhere as well as the wax did seem to alst longer then it did with other pre products. (althought i will admit there has never been a 50/50 to test this is just me observing the vintage)

well said accum... I was taught if you has to ask you cant afford it....unfortunlty i have to ask all to often :rofl

p.s imo wines can be worth that... I would def pay the 6k for a 05 chataue latour... but then again that would be put down to age for a few decedes

Heck sign me up for a group buy then, LMAO...

Another $80 for shipping costs to get your "free" refills huh...

:wow:

I was told that your are limited to two "free" refills a year - correct?

:waxing:
