Wow! You sure made San Diego sound like an inviting place to visit! Your description sounds more like Australia and their once a decade mouse/rat population explosion.:-?

No seriously its so much a problem that the city will come out and start posioning them . I think its really cruel myself .
One year I was dogsitting for my friends and for 3 days I was picking up dead and half dying rats all over their yard and the dogs were running around with rats them in their mouths .The city had come out and posioned them before they left for vacation.
I have rat stories that will give you nightmares LOL![]()
there's one deterrant thats beter than a cat... mice and rats are a snakes delicacy. have fun
.45 cal...........
Unfortunately, that can lead to other problems. I just "inherited" a 2001 Kia Sportage that was very poorly treated. One of the first things I did was pull out the A/C - Heater Blower. It included, mouse nests pulled from other locations in the car. Feces, Urine, food left overs and a partially decomposed snake. The snake was fairly large, so, I still have alot of work to do to rid the car of that smell.
A friend found the outside air intake of his Kia, and fitted it with steel mesh. I may do the same thing.
In the past when storing my car I have had mice problems and now I use moth balls and have not had a issue for years. Not sure how they will work outside or under the hood. I am curious as to why the rats are coming into the garage. If there garbage there or dog food. Possibly remove the source, give a good clean and most of all Good luck
