Anyone know anything about Zaino Z-2 PRO?

Good to see Sal is still improving his legacy.

I'm also wondering if anyone has used Z2 on single stage or nonclear coated paint. I have an old customer, with a near mint, red Monaco, coming next week for swirl and scratch removal. Just wondering if there would be a bonding issue on an older car, as he lives over an hour away, and i don't see the car very often.

Use Z3 or Z5 on it for non-clear-coated.

I'm not stating that BMW's are better than anything or carnuba waxes are total crap (although I "personally" don't like the results of carnubas)

So if someone were to line up some cars in front of you, each car having half done with zaino and the other half with carnauba, you would be able to ID whether zaino or carnauba was used on which side?

In about a month, when the carnuba starts to break down... yes.

I made it a page and a half more than Bob before I will stop reading. :o

Here is my problem: there are 4 good pages of posting and then this. You provided some good information, and then you talk down other products in general. That is how you make a good thread go bad here. :)

I'm sure after a month Zaino or Klasse or Blackfire or Wolfgang are showing some signs of wear. It's not like the wax has a mind and says "oh, it's been 3 months, time to get considerably worse because I was designed by somebody in a lab and not out of a plant" It doesn't work that way. Collinite products contain carnauba, and I would be surprised if a sealant could last as long as them.

:nixweiss Not all carnaubas are created the same. Not all sealants are created the same.

Well, my apologies, but I never mentioned any other brands. I made a general comparison.

I'll just go back to lurking now.

Thanks BoostError, I should have thought of Z3 even though i do not have any. Will Z5 last as long as Z2?

What carnaubas have you used that break down in a month for you?

I'm not going to name brands to avoid being flammed, but the last "wax" I used before finally making the switch would last me about 2-3 weeks tops and the beading would simply stop. This was in the hot Florida sun with rain every afternoon for months on end.

Generally I had bad luck with real waxes and wanted to try synthetics. Red paint + Florida heat = suck.

Well it's no doubt that an off the shelf product isn't going to perform as well as Zaino. :)

Well, unless you find a shelf that contains some products that aren't normally sold in Autozone or what not.

Generalities can get you in trouble. ;) Meguiars #16 and Collinite's line are very, very durable carnaubas.

BTW, with the proper prep, it doesn't make a huge difference which LSP you use. Sure, you can tweak the final appearance a bit but mostly only those of us who are really into detailing will notice.

In any event, I was pretty happy with my test of Zaino so I'll probably order some Z2 Pro and play around with it.

:)

Oh yeah....cost has nothing to do with it. I will glady drop $70 on a jar of Souveran. ;)

Try some Meguiars #16...and it is old stuff! Been around, mostly unchanged since 1951. Definitely my favorite carnauba for customer's cars since it really lasts and the appearance holds up very well.

Might be a great topper for the Z2 Pro if that interests you.

:bounce :bounce :bounce I agree !!

I have noticed on the Corvetteforum also that most of the Zaino Reps seem to have a knack for knocking all other products recently, except for their "holy grail" or should I say "livelyhood". (seems biased) .Sales are down boys, get out there and drum up some more business !! Thats the feeling I get when Zaino gets pushed down my throat.

Zaino is a good product, with great durability. But different flavors and results are out there also. I want to know something .... does PRO reduce the scaring from birdie doo-doo (some commonly refer to it at etching, but usually seems to be just trapped in the Zaino level/levels.)

Added durability means NOTHING to me ..... I dont plan on ever allowing any car to go undetailed for 6-8 months. Call me crazy, but I even detail the occasional rental car or loaner.

No one's gonna bite you for stating your experiences and obvservations. People just start getting mad when you say bad things about products you've never tried.

Still, I'm curious about what you tried. Still not comfortable with divulging that info?

Scott - the sample I sent you was Z2 Pro. I've been honored with some product testing for Sal, also.

Boost - it's my advice that you take it easy on the promoting/praise...your enthusiasm has the chance of pissing people off and turning them away from Zaino.

Scott, what would you recommend as an "insane gloss" topper to Zaino that won't harm the Zaino underneath?

Poorboy's Natty's Paste on lighter colors and metallics for a super wet look, Pinnacle Souveran on darker colors for a deep liquid look and #16 for a durable topper.
