Anybody have any experience with the Infiniti QX56?

Spolied Man- you're probably right. But it is fun to just go look at new stuff though, isn't it? If she finds soemthing she absolutely has to have, for whatever dealer deal of the century, they'll consider a sooner purchase.

Steve- I love the look of the FX. Expecially in black with chrome wheels. Awesome looking. She just didn't like the 'feel' of the interior much. Plus, it's not big enough for what she [doesn't] need ;)

And no, It just appears that way ;)

Mr. Dan- I'll run it by her. Considering this will be one of her last cars, I think she's probably just gonna buy new, just because. If we have time today after seeing the Infinti and GX, I'll try to get into an LX to see. If there's one near by, I'll see about a Lincoln dealer too. The Navigator looks nice.

My parents have a QX56 and they love it. Its a bit big for my tastes, but they like all the room. Its gadget galore, 3-D nav, dvd player, laser guided cruise control, backup camera, electric open and close hatch, etc, etc.

It actually accelerates and handles extremely well for something of its size. They looked at all the competition, but ended up with the QX due to its features, size, etc.

My parents also have a 2005 qx-56. I like the vehicle. The engine and tranny is amazingly smooth and powerful. The bose surround sound and dvd players are great. Nice big 7 inch woofer under the front seat, and 6x9's in the doors. The back auto hatch is cool. Check my gallery for some shiny qx pics. Its fairly easy to clean, exept for the wheels and wheel wells. The wells dont have a plastic liner so all the dirt goes in places that are not easily cleaned. And the 18 inch wheels being chorome, is a pita, and that the fact that you can see the backside of the wheel, but you cant get to it unless you take the wheels off.

Nice truck all in all.

Well, we didn't make it to the dealership tonight, and I'm a little disappointed. The plan is to go immediately after school on Monday. This way, it leaves my dad and sister at home so I have no need to flaunt my automotive knowledge superiority to anyone but the person who's buying it :) :lol

I think your family has too much money :(

You can never have too much money :)

Mongoose, if your mom is focused on style instead of performance (Porsche) and practicality, then how about a Land Rover. I parked next to one today and they are pretty nice. Haven't driven in so I can't tell you how it performs

Anyway, in two years, cars should be different especially if gas stays at $50. GM, Ford and other producers are already hurting due to slower big SUV sales which they got their biggest margins on. They'll still be there in 2 years, but I think the redesigns will try to make them lighter which could affect the looks (e.g plastic molding - ugh)

I suggested that to Mom today. Theres kind of a family joke about the Land/Range Rover, and getting one of those would just be too impossible because of it. Otherwise they're great from what I've seen.

It has to do with "Roving the Range". :rofl .

Land Rovers and Range Rovers are problematic vehicles. Almost a good thing your family has a joke that would prevent buying one. :)

I was in the pilot lounge at work watching Fox or CNN a while back and they were playing a tape that was sent in by some Muslim group threatening to cut the head off their captive.

In the Corner of the screen they had superinposed the initials of the group, Muslim Islamic Liberation Front. The entire rooms just busted out laughing. MILF..........

TW85 HHI- I know the reliability jokes too well. We're Jeep people. Did you know that all Land Rovers come with nav. systems? Just follow the trail of leaked oil to where you began.

Falcon Guy- The same as Operation Iraqi Liberation. "OIL". It was quickly changed to Freedom.

just a side note... I was stuck in traffic behind one of these over on one of those obscure highways between Palmdale and Bakersfield (had to take an alternate route up to the Bay Area since the 5 was closed at the Grapevine) and my Valentine1 detector was going crazy on the laser falses... *&@$ing LED taillights!!@(*&$@! It was so annoying, especially since I couldn't pass him up. Then again, who needs a radar detector in bumper to bumper traffic? ;)

I know it's not as big as the others, but have you considered the Volvo XC90? We have one and it's pretty sweet. Ours is a T6 AWD, but they have a new V8 for 2005. The new engine has something like 315 HP.

Ours is pretty nice, but it is really my wife's car. The interior is probably the nicest out of ANY SUV out there. Toasty heated seats, sweet stereo with subwoofer, DVD system in the back...

Bunmango- :rofl :rofl

Yup. She looked at the XC90 at the DC Auto show. This is where she sat in the Lexus' (Lexi?), Cayenne, Toureg, and every other SUV considered. I like the XC90 personally, but she hates it. I don't know why. My grandfather is actually looking at them right now, too.

The XC90 is definitely one of the best looking suvs around, probably 'cause it doesn't really look like an suv!;) I love them but they're pricey, especially with the V8.

Now I'm starting to wonder about your Mom's taste in cars Mongoose. :o J/K! No likey the XC90, Cayenne, Touareg. Has she looked at the Buick Rendezvous?:p

Haha. I made sure I distracted her as we drove past the Buick dealership . :lol

I'm seeing a trend going on here. She seems to like only the Japanese cars. I don't know why. I'm starting to wonder if maybe she just does a random "Like it/ don't like it" in her head when I point out a car.? Hmmm...

Ah, my wife's the same way so I understand. We rented a Rendezvous for a roadtrip over the holidays. Let's just say I'll never forget that car!:lol Well the GX and QX are two of the better looking suvs so looks like you've got her on the right track.

Or maybe she just likes the clean, conservative, and elegant designs that Japanese manufacturers tend to use. A lot of European designs are overdone and too busy while a lot of American designs are just cheap looking (though I have to say the newest Honda/Acura designs fall into the same category).
