Any vegans reside in the city?

I have a month to get ready so I'll start reading about going veggie.
My oldest brother has been vegetartian going on 34 years.
My middle daughter has been a vegetarian going 24(since birth) years.
My youngest for 3 years.
The rest of us are carnivores.
BOY ARE YOU GOING TO BE TIRED!!!LOL,I always looked at it as your body is a furnace and you need to fuel that furnace.
1. protein for muscle and bones
2.carbs for energy
3. vit. minerals for healthy overal body
So you need to consume certain foods to keep your furnace going . To much fuel you will get fat and to little you will lose weight. Always concidering a varriety of each to keep your body strong. Being a vegan to me is not just a diet but a way of life nothing I would jump into to lightly. How old is your daughter Rabbi? 2 of my 3 girls are toying with the veggetarian thing a bit.

Have any of you heard of Harland Williams?

He is a comedian, and tells this bit about going to a restaurant with his buddy larry who is a vegetarian. He says that his buddy orders a salad and he orders a Big Juicy Flank Steak. His buddy larry say's why would you eat that it is so unhealthy for you, so he says he takes his steak and flops it in Larry's face and says hey Larry this cow was a vegetarian once and he in not looking to healthy to me right now.

I guess you have to hear it live. It's funny as hell when he say's it.

The youngest is 19 in July. She's been a vegetarian for 3 to 4 years. The middle daughter is 24 and has always been a vegetarian. When she was little we told her pediatrician about her not eating meat and he said that was the best thing she could do. Said there are plenty of foods out there for her to get her protein, calcium, vitamins and minerals. She has never been sick in her life.I'm talking colds, flu, headachs. Nothing.

I could easily give up meats. I could easily give up fruits. I could easily give up veggies. I could easily give up sweets. I could easily give up breads. I could easily give up diary products. I might even be able to give up coffee.

But there is no way I could give up pasta  Have no idea how long I could live on pasta alone, but boy it would nice in the mean time.

Will you still be eating fish and eggs, or are you going the whole "if it was a living animal" route?

"J"

No fish or eggs.I did drink some chocolate soymilk Tuesday. It wasn't bad at all.

It will be very interesting Rabbi but you can do it. Alot of peoples prpblems with dieting is that they dont get creative with their cooking .Same as with being a vegetarian I feel there are plenty of food you can still each you just have to get creative so you dont eat just 3 things all the time. It can be very healthy if done correctly ,It's great your girls seem to have it under control .

Eating a delicious salad at 8am. It has romaine lettuce, spinach, grapes, walnuts, raisins, dried cheeries and walnut raspberry vinegarette. mm mm good!

Re: Any vegans reside in the city?

Well it looks like the answer to your question is NO

Detailer's eat meat:rofl: :eat:

Rabbi - Give me your blood types and I'll let you know what the short/long term benefits/issues are.

Things to remember in general- most vegans/vegetarians are really starchaterians which is not healthy at all.

One needs to know how to eat. Just like washing the cart and applying a coat of wax isn't the whole story, but you can still say that you take care of your car.

Let me know.

A guy I work with is a Vegan. He has synthetic shoes even. I am a pizza cook for a higher end Italian Restraunt (You Floridians would be familiar with), and I make his pizzas sometimes. He brings his own tofu sometimes, and his usual is Tomato basil Sauce (the pizza sauce has anchovie paste in it), black olives, pineapple, and whatever else he may want. No cheese. Our dough has no dairy or eggs in it. Not my cup of tea, but at least Vegetarian is healthy. Vegan is a little extreme. I'll keep my leather shoes, Bacon and egg breakfast sandwiches, and cheese on my pizza thank you very much. And a tall glass of milk. I'm not against veganism, I just don't think I could handle it.

My blood type is tired. Seriously I forgot wht type I am.I do know I'm a negative. My next doctor visit I'll try to remember to ask.I can't go on this way.
