Another Zymol convert

another worthless post without PICTURES :D

Funny you should say that, as I was just coming back to this thread to post up my latest pics :nana:

Just gave the S2K her 7th coat of the concours estate glaze today. Just gave her a quick 2 bucket foam gun bath, and followed up with a quick wipe down with Quickshine before laying the Zymol down. It's currently wearing Z-16 on the tires, and Werkstatt prime on the wheels.....here are the pics:

Nothing I have used before brings out flake like this....

A full sun shot...

Note the reflection of the red truck in the hood, it's parked about 50 feet away!

Sold! I just ordered Estate ital (do not have an italian car, but got it at a great price) and HD cleanse. Will be ordering some concours down the road (need to replenish the wallet :o ).

I was afraid Strauss was going to answer.....I almost cued him in, and then I said "well maybe he'll come back".

And did he ever??!!??!! Perfection.................!!

Strauss, you see the range abilities I was talking about right?? This is the payback for all the pain an EGZymol may make you go through!

BTW: Where's Djf1 with his comeback pics?? Don't want to totally hijack his thread without some after shots of his cars......

....and Animesk2, Accumulator (sorry buddy, you don't get off the hook that easily)....

What range abilities??? I have no idea what you are talking about..... :chuckle: You mean like this right??....

I love my Zymol, and you aren't kidding about distant reflections...that house in that pic is a good 50-75 feet away. I have never seen anything like it and I have used it all as many of us autopians' have......

Yup, that.....ouch Pow!!

Ok the soapbox again....

The feature of Zymol is what you were so aptly able to produce in your finish; The quality of the (long range) reflection and extreme color reproduction from the wax.

Ok, I promised that I wouldn't crash, but I can't help it this time.....one of my favorite opening shots of yours truly.........this is what inspires us in our quest for a Zymol reflection...

Heh heh, aw, come on, I have good excuses ;)

I can't wax the Jag when it's in the paintshop :D Or for another four months afterwards.

And the RX-7 just got shoved into the "deep storage corner" while I work on the M3 so who knows *when* I'll ever get back to *it* (gee, hope I don't forget how the engine compartment goes back together :o ).

Don't know if this applies to other carnaubas, but, thinking back to my Zymol days, I seem to remember it's OK to use Zymol on new paint.

I think your memory is a little foggy. It says right on Zymol.com not wax a freshly painted car. Of course, this only applies to body shop paint jobs. Factory paint is almost instantly cured due to the high temperatures of their baking ovens.

Even when it comes to "fresh-paint-OK sealants" I err on the side of caution and use a glaze for the first 3-4 months. It might very well *be* an error, but I don't see a downside and I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Just dug out my old Zymol "Owner's Manual" and it says "Zymol products are safe for all paint finishes, including NEW clear coats, acrylic, urethane and classic lacquers"

But, like you say, "new" probably refers to new FACTORY paint jobs. A bit ambiguous but, yeah, you're probably right. :)

Who but an Autopian would save the owner's manual for their car wax? :grinno:

That manual was probably written when clear coat paint was a "new" product. Here it is straight from the source . . .

Hah!!! Thought you could get away with the ol' excuses excuses trick huh...

Lucky for you that I am a very patient person. Lol, just kidding around........in time, you'll see!

Thanks, Strauss for the compliments (couldn't help myself with seeing some of those outstanding surfaces...almost makes me want to do another session). I see you know about the ls1's. Wait...you did a detail on one memory serves me, right??

BTW: There is a lot more to Zymol than the oils. Not all carnaubas are graded the same. There are differences in the carnauba raw products used as well.

Heh heh, I'm guilty of that as well :o Still got my "Clean Cars Make Money" booklet that came with my Malms wax back in the mid-'80s :D That was back when they were still saying to wash with plain water

Yeah, my buddies 2000 SS w/ an STS rear mount set-up w/ the standard 60trim, plus has long-tubes, LS6 intake, underdrives, all your usual LS1"free" mods. With 5psi the car dyno'd around 430rwhp....342rwhp before the turbo set-up. He is waiting to install his 60lb'rs along with LS1 edit, some sort of bigger cam(not sure which one), LS2 heads to drop his compression a bit for the turbo, and a very nice front mount set-up. He will run about 7.5psi and should be in the 550rwhp range!! Nasty car....and thanks to me now wearing Souveran :getdown

Strauss,

Your pics made me so jealous that I had to put a fresh coat of Z (the one that actually makes your car look good not lacquered :chuckle: )on my S2K and snap some pics.
