As mentioned earlier, the preferences are certainly an issue when it comes to choosing a product. Sometimes, these type of preferences are all one has to go by when getting products that are similar. They are relevant to buying anything. Now on to performance. In my preferences Z-Bar is better than the rest. Now to convince of the actual performance, or not.

Mothers VS. Z-Bar ( performance only )

Mother's Clay bar seems to have a slight problem with staying fresh for long periods of time. After several uses the clay seems to become a little crumbly, but not that bad. The biggest problem I noticed with the mothers compared to the Z-Bar is the lack of ability of mothers to pick up the contaminants on just one or two passes. I found myself still going over spots I went over before with mothers. The Z-Bar seems to take care of all the contaminanats on the first pass. I noticed myself using mothers and going over spots several times and having to really work on a spot. The Z-bar has no problem picking everything up on the first pass. This is mothers clay bars biggest problem. The Z-bar just picks everything up and leaves nothing but a perfectly smooth finish. Also, the QD that comes with it does not seem to work well with the bar. The bar seems to drag too much. This along with meguiars are my least favorite bars.

Pinnacle Vs. Z-Bar ('')

A good bar. Though, when there were tough spots on the car I still had to make more than one pass. The Z-Bar get's it right the first time and the only time. Demolishes all the contaminants. I had a slight problem with the bar and lubrication. It seemed to slide better than the mothers but not as good as the Z-Bar. Little jumps every now and then. Not a bad bar.

Claymagic/3Mperfect it 3 cleaner clay VS Z-Bar ('') Not too impressed with this product. Both seem almost identical. Both of them had the same basic problems with the other bars. They just don't pick the contaminants up as well as the Z-Bar. I am not talking about 2002 vehicles or 2001. We are talking 97,98 vehicles with contaminants. The bars just did not impress me when it came to removing major contaminant problems. Rather dissapointed in comparison with the Z-bar

z18 VS Z-Bar

My friend threw his bar in the garbage and picked up the Z-Bar. He only used it three times. I did not use it, but that does say something after he used mine.

As, I said the preferences in my previous post were split up into different clay bars mentioned by jngr(approx 4). The Z-bar has all the characteristics that some of the others don't. Also, from having contrast I believe it does a much better job of picking up contaminants than the other bars.

I just did a test today with the Clay magic bar and the Z-Bar. Had a piece of contaminant on the hood. I did a couple swipes with the claymagic bar, It still was not perfectly smooth. One pass with the Z-Bar and it took off everything that was there that the Claymagic left.

Like I said, I have contrast of all the bars I mentioned and my friend. This clay bar has ALL the preferences that I like, and it picks up contaminants better in all the cases. Again, Try it. If not, and you guy's just BELIEVE it's another clay bar like the rest of the "bunch" then it's your loss. I am just sharing this amazing product with you. I have contrast between the most talked about clay bars on this forum and the Z-bar. I don't lose a thing by you guy's not listening or trying the product. I gave you the link to the website as asked, I gave the preferences, I gave the contrast between the bars, I gave examples.

Also, the Z-bar you want to use with car wash soap. Save the QD for in between washings. Hands down better Clay bar then the others I tried. That is MY review. Z-Bar beats all other clay bars I mentioned.

You "Had a piece of contaminant on the hood"?? What did you put on the hood? Anything you were able to just put on the hood and then take off again in less than a couple hours wouldn't prove anything. It would get totally swept away by either clay. It would probably wash off with normal soap for that matter. :down

I did't put it on the hood. It was there to begin with. It has been Bonded to the paint for a while now. I didn't like plant it on the car. LOL Anyway, Claymagic did not cut it. Z-bar swept it right off.

RedCarguy I believe it was you who mentioned I should do another thread?

. After several uses the clay seems to become a little crumbly

You seemed to indicate that Clay Bars could be used more than once.

Did you mean several "passes"? or several uses?

Should I start with a fresh clay bar for each claying?

Thanks.........Bill

Clay can be used more than once. It just depends on how dirty it gets when you use it. Just keep an eye on how full it gets and then get a new bar when its done. Better to be safe than sorry.

Can someone please tell me what the phrase: "my bad" means??? Or is this the result of sniffing a few too many chemicals?

That's whole reason for cutting up or tearing up the clay bar into smaller pieces. Use a piece and then knead it to get a fresh surface. Do this a few times, and when you cannot expose a new surface, turf it. One bar can go a long way like this.

That is why I was suprised that he was using a whole 250 gram bar to clay with. Drop it in the wrong place once and you just lost a huge bar of clay. Shaving it down would be an option I guess, but not if I'm using it on my car. Time to toss that puppy.

Yup. Learned that the hard way when I first started using clay. My brother dropped the Meguiar's clay on the ground, so out went the $30 clay!:(

it is my understanding that is means the same as "sorry my fault"

Hmm, maybe the reason why the Z-Bar "seems" more effective is the fact you're using a car wash solution? Try using the shampoo on all the other bars, and see if you can yield similar results.

Or maybe this is an abrasive, overspray-cutting bar?

Is this really fair? You went over the contaminant with claymagic and the went over it AGAIN with the Z-bar. Obviously, one could argue that the claymagic aided the Z-bar in contaminant removal. I would think that trying to split up the hood area that had the contaminiant on it and using each bar separately would be more fair. :nixweiss

according to the web site that makes z-bar on a scale of abbrassive ness from 1-10 z-bar is a " 10" maybe thats why it cleans every thing an some clearcoat too

about this thread, and the previous, since my product was not mentioned too kindly:

We do offer our clay in a container, when it's purchased in our professional line. The bar size is 240 grams.

Our clay (along with every other product we make) has a satisfaction/money back guarantee. Very few bars come back (even some in the wrapper with comments that the clay didn't do anything). Far more clay bars are stolen out of the box than come back from satisfaction returns. I believe every manufacturer listed offers a similar guarantee. I fail to see how this brand's is better than any other's.

"Zebra" clays (black and white stripe) have been around some time. All of the ones I've seen have been quite aggressive, and the white is a silicone caulk type substance. Due to their aggressiveness, they're inappropriate for consumer use, as they will mar the surface.

I don't think it's fair to compare the cleaning ability of a mild consumer-friendly bar, no matter the brand, to an aggressive bar - that's like comparing a Z06 to a Cavalier.

I've also not seen or heard any complaints of our bars crumbling under use.

Either have I. This is the first time I have heard anything negative about your claybar. I really wouldn't worry too much about it though, you can't please everybody all the time. Maybe you should make a half pound clay bar with a velvet lined carrying case?
