American or Foreign

I think the real reason to reduce emissions is to improve the health of America in general. There are a great deal of diseases which are caused by pollution. This is not debated. I would become defensive if somebody told me I was more responsible for the increase in pollution related diseases due to my lifestyle choices.

The truth is that Americans have lost the compassion that they once had for each other. It's about the individual American right to choose and so they draw an illogical conclusion that it also means they lack a greater responsibility when making their decisions. Flaunting the right to choose is seen as patriotic. It somehow makes people more American if they choose cars that are impractical because they don't need a reason. Uber American!

Agreed. I hate the idea of going for a run in Chicago and breathing in part of the 40 million tons of CO2 that's emitted every day. It's gross and not good to be breathing in.

So the man does one thing wrong. I don't see you flying up to the polar ice caps for scientific study, or touring the world informing clueless souls about global warming and it's hazards. So he has a big house that sucks up energy? he's rich, they all have that.

I think this statement does disservice to your arguments.

The fact that he is rich gives him access to the technology that the rest of us can only dream of. If he is going to preach it, why not live it?

Honestly? I feel that the media blew it totally out of proportion. They (GOP) will do anything to discredit someone they don't agree with. Politics is a ruthless biz.

Annoying? Yes. But not enough for me not to be happy he's trying to help our environment. He's doing a lot more than most people would do, and that goes for several people out there who have also tried to help this situation (in politics and the scientific world).

Here's some quotes for ya. ;)

"So there you have it, the evidence is unimpeachable: Global warming is a myth, or the result of natural cyclical weather patterns, and it’s exaggerated, and the Earth is actually cooling, and also it’s all Al Gore’s fault, and when we’re all having a leisurely canoe trip down a flooded K street strumming our ukuleles and crooning tin pan ally standards to our sweethearts as the city drowns, that will be Al Gore’s fault.

PROVEN BY SCIENCE!"

"oh yeah, the only time the baby-protecting drudgeites like science is when it can be said to discredit a democrat. not a frequent occurrence, really. but they try."

>>We have accounts from concerned citizens that Mr. Gore purchased a Cadillac Escalade SUV several months before [his film] opened in theaters, said Kimberly Blume, spokeswoman for the California-based environmental group Friends Of The Earth. “Not only did Mr. Gore use his new gas-guzzler to make short trips to the grocery store, he also left the vehicle running 24 hours a day in the driveway of his Tennessee home with the air-conditioning on full-blast.

>>In the weeks following the film’s release, witnesses reported additional sightings of Gore engaging in activities such as discharging can after can of 1980s-era, CFC-laden aerosol into the air, and single-handedly clear-cutting over 6,000 acres of Amazon rain forest.

>>Environmental groups have called for the federal government to step in and put a stop to Gore’s actions, but officials say they do not have the power to stop him.

“There is no legal recourse anyone can take against the former vice president, Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Stephen L. Johnson said. “Mr. Gore is well within the emissions standards set by the current administration.

it just rings hollow, no matter who it is or what side they're on, when it comes down to 'Do as I say, not as I do...'

I tell ya what than my asian enthusiast, don't READ IT if it's so bothersome to you.

Here's an idea. READ THE FORUM RULES!!! After all you did agree to them when you clicked join.

This is verbatim:

"Flames or Derogatory Insults

Flames or derogatory insults are strictly against the rules. If you disagree with another member's point of view, do so in a mature and civil manner. If someone posts to discuss their personal problems or seek help from other forum members, please do not respond unless you have something positive or helpful to add. If you find yourself being flamed or insulted by another member, please do not dignify that person with a response. Notify a moderator and let us handle it. If you feel you must respond to a flame or insult directly, please do NOT do so on the board. Use private messages or e-mail."

"Controversial Topics

Controversial topics, such as religion, abortion, mental retardation, racism, etc., are NOT allowed. Although these topics usually start out civilly enough, experience has shown that these sort of topics invariably disintegrate into all out flame wars and heated arguments. So please refrain from starting such topics."

I have removed my comments as I suppose I did instigate the argument slightly. Regardless, I came onto this forumto discuss automobiles and an enthusiasm for detailing. I did not join to debate current events.

Grow up azn. It was a comment that you took to heart. I can't help that you drive a Jeep and are in denial about GW. It's obviously true based on how tight your panties are about my first GW post, which gave technical info, not preaching. BTW, no need to delete your post to make you look better, I quoted it so it's there for good. :nana:

"don't really feel like being lectured on my choice of vehicles." you said that

And I said "Don't read it"

and you said, blah blah about the forum rules, I wasn't breaking any rules in the technical GW post, you just whined like a 12 yr old. Grow up. Go be an Asian invasion enthuzzziast somewhere else.

Nimble: PM sent. I will not argue with you about this further, as it seems extremely distasteful to continue to a personal arguement through a public thread.
