alternative to klasse sg?

UPP or WG.

I still use SG as a first base after AIO. I've tried all the methods and have been using it for 3 years. But I still find it difficult to remove effectively.

WG is my fav. It is just a hair less 'oily' than UPP IMHO.

UPP is slicker.

Both are extremely easy to remove.

[Is the cleaner type product comparable to AIO? Do you people substitute the Autogym cleaner with AIO and follow up with Autoglym sealant? [/B][/QUOTE]

The Super Resin Polish *is* something quite similar to AIO. The SRP does not (in my experience) clean as well as AIO (and I've done side-by-side tests), but it leaves a lot more protection. Very esy on/off by hand or PC/Cyclo. In fact, SRP topped with either Meg's #16 or Collinite has been my "friends and family" combo for many years, it's just *so* user friendly (just IMO of course).

SRP has a turpentine-like smell, sorta like oil-based artist's paints, which somehow pleases me. Others might not care for it, but again, I just like using the stuff.

Never tried the Autoglym sealant, but plenty of people do like it.

I think you might like the Extra Gloss and as with SG works well with a wax topping Maybe a product for your 2005 list?

I used UPP for the first time today. I applied a coat on top of a few coats of SG. Can't say enough good things about it. It was sooooo easy to use and it just looks great. It has a deep wet look and it is really, really slick. I'm looking forward to adding another coat.

I concur!

It doesn't have the same chemical cleaning ability (for oxidation), but it does contain a reasonable amount of mechanical cleaners, so it can remove minor defects when applied more aggressively.

I like the smell too...odd isn't it?

Hi guys,

I hope everbody had a great day yesterday. I just found some EGP out in the shed, and was wondering if it'll go over AIO without a problems, or does it need the SRP first?

thanks

Paul

EGP is designed to work with SRP but who knows. I would try it and report back. I have used a chemical cleaner and then used SRP & EGP to great effect.

Remember, very thin layers with EGP and leave on for as long as possible.

thanks guys, will try it on the sis and father's cars when it warms up a bit here, and the snow's gone. I like the look of Klasse, but If it'll go over AIO then there's no need to use up my SG on the family cars.

Will report back on how it goes.

sometimes I just top AIO with Zaino with good results. Depends if you want to maximize your durabilty.

Burlyq, please pardon me for my ignorance. I'm relatively new in this passion, but I love it.

Are you referring to Zaino Z-2 Pro? I'm a little confused. Do I understand that you use this in lieu of SG or UPP? Then this should mean that it is a sealant, despite the fact that it is called a car polish?

Also, do you use the Zaino without the ZFX? Would Zaino without the ZFX turn out well? I sort of didn't want to complicate my life just yet with mixing products in vials.

So sorry again for my stupid questions. I just wanted to be enlightened.

I tried applying it by hand using the WOWO method today, and it worked perfectly. I put a few drops of it on the green pad that came with the concours kit and did about 3/4 of the hood and wiped it right off. Now, i have to wait 24 hours for that next coat...

I don't think your questions are stupid.

yes Zaino is a sealant and has no polishing capabilties. I'm not sure why they call it a polish. It serves the same function as UPP and SG.

ZFX rocks, once you use it you wont regret it. It's not complicated at all, you put an once of any Z polish in a bottle then put 5 drops of ZFX and boom, you can do multiple coats and the coats will be more durable. The small bottles are ideal to handle and when ZFX is in the product it allows for micro spreading of any Zaino polish. If you use the polish alone it will go on thick. With ZFX you can put two coats on a car with an ounce, suv 1.5, huge suv 2 oz. I've heard you can use z2pro w/o ZFX but I haven't tried it yet. I personally think ZFX was the single most important development in detailing in recent years. Someday other sealant company's will develop and instant cure but if you want to put two coats, even if it's just on the hood and roof, you have to use ZFX or wait 24 hours at least with any other product. One bottle of ZFX will treat 2 bottles at least of any Zaino polishes. I have had good results w/o ZFX but nowhere as good as with ZFX. If you don't get the ZFX let the product dry for a long time. Don't worry about too long there's no such thing with Zaino, if you left it on for two days it would wipe off easy. But I'd try the ZFX at least once if I was you.

I don't think your questions are stupid.

Burlyq, thank you for the answers. They have cleared up a lot for me. And thanks also for the words of encouragement.

NP, I hope you get as much enjoyment from your new hobby as I have for the past twenty something years. My bro doesn't understand why I'd rather detail a car than go fishing. Stick around this is a great site, I've learned plenty more from this site than I ever thought possible. I thought I knew just about everything, but this site has taught me I surely don't. Keep an open mind and you'll enjoy this place. See you around the block. Q

Oh yeah we have simular nick names, although my girlfriend spells mine with a y.
