A viper GTS and SC MINI cooper S **56K** Death trap

EBPcivicsi

GOT PREP?
Well, they're both blue with white stripes. :)

This viper belongs to the manager of a local speed shop. I have done work for them before and it’s always great. The cars are typically in good shape and they send referrals to me quite a bit.

This guy DRIVES this car, I am not sure about the exact mods, but I know that it has engine management and naaaaaaawwwws. :D

The car had been washed by a hack a few weeks back and he swirled it up pretty bad. He used an acid based wheel cleaner on the wheels and basically ruined them. They are uncoated aluminum!!! :soscared: The acid flash oxidized the metal, NXT metal polish cleaned them up nicely, but there are still areas that need work (between the spokes).

The interior was a breeze (no pics), just vaced then wiped everything down with Costco APC 10:1.

Total work time was 5 hours.

Process for the paint was:

-Wash with Meguiars hyper wash

-Clay with Meguiars aggressive clay

-Apply Meguiars #83 dual action cleaner polish via the rotary and a polishing pad @1200 RPM’s

-Apply Meguiars #80 speed glaze via the PC @ speed 5

-Apply two thin coats of Meguiars NXT

Glass cleaned with NXT glass cleaner

Tires dressed with Meguiars all-season dressing

Here are the befores on the motor, it was just a little neglected.

Degreased with MAGNUM

Dressed with eagle one pro water based dressing 1:1

I also did this MINI cooper while I was there. This was the most swirl free vehicle that I

have ever detailed, ever. The car belongs to the owner’s wife. The owner washes the car with a microfiber mitt and blows it dry with a metro blow n vac. There was some minor marring, but it was light.

The process was:

Apply optimum polish via PC @speed 5

Remove residue with OCW

Apply OCW over entire vehicle including chrome, glass, and paint

Tires dressed with Meguiars all season dressing

Glass cleaned with NXT

No interior pics, but it was a breeze, vaced, then used meguiars interior QD

Motor was degresed with magnum

Dressed with eagle one pro water based dressing

Total work time 2 hours 15 minutes.

Sorry about the indoor pics, I don’t know how to operate my camera out of “auto.

That is some seriously impressive work! The engine looks killer but the paint! Wow!

Like I have been saying for a long time, there is just something about NXT and medium to dark blue metallic paint that is hard to beat!

Really nice work on the Mini too. Kind of nice when they don't take much deep polishing, eh?

Thanks man, yeah i didn't know what to say. I am so accustomed to getting severely marred paint that I was shocked to say the least. I

t's really like night and day. Detailing a car like this makes me see what we (certainly not considering myslef a pro, but for this discussion "we" as a collective term fits :) )do in two different "classes." This car would be "detailing," severely marred vehicles which require deep polishing would be considered "restoration."

both of them came out nice. when doing cars like on the viper did you tape anything up like the black vents on the grill, or the plastic on the MC? Also what was your regimen for doing the viper engine i was asked to do one a while back but declined for safety reasons...

I didn't tape anything on either vehicle. I don't have or sling or dust issues when using the meguiars 80's series via rotary. I do get little "strings" that fly off when the product loads up the pad, but a quick cleaning of the pad (typically with a toothbrush) solves that.

On the MINI, I actually used the OP and the OCW on the molding.

On the engine, I just covered the small computer (check the first pic of the engine and you can see it on top of the battery) with foil, pressure washed, applied degreaser, agitated, pressure rinsed. I then blew it dry with my blower, applied the dressing, and finally started the car.

Thanks guys.

that mini is dripping wet.. gotta get me some OCW

what is the remove residue with OCW ? did you spray like a QD on an MF towel to remove ?

wow both cars look great. the vipers motors looks new..what did you use on the mini wheels, it looks like you swapped the wheels lol :)

I just polish as normal, then stop, mist the area with OCW, and remove with MF. I then continue to the next panel using the "wet" side for the initial wipe, followed by the "dry" side for final wiping.

Front shots coming. :)

Thanks everyone!!!

Joe: As usual, amazing! I always look forward to your posts :).

How do you like the All-Season Dressing? Does it apply nicer on the tires than HD?

How did OCW work in the cold weather for you? Any streaking?

Again, they both look gorgeous.
