A Story By Mitch Albom ...

If you had one day to spend with someone who's gone..

Who would it be ?
What would you do ?

My grandfather or my great grandfather.

I would just spend the day talking with them and asking all the questions that I didn't have the maturity to ask them when I was younger and they were still here.

It would be my father who passed 20 years ago. We would watch and talk about baseball, it was his passion.

My great grandmother. I lived with my grandparents as a teenager and she lived with them as well. She died when I was 17 or there abouts. I was a jerk to her at times and not very nice. As a teenager while I listened and talked to my grandparents, my great grandmother I didn't give the time of day too. As I got older and wiser I feel the older members in the family hold a lot of information and wisdom. I spend a day hearing about her life, learning about distant relative that I know nothing about but she did.

There are many people i would love to spend a day with but i think at this point in my life i would love to spend a day with Ayn Rand, one of the greatest philisphers of the 20th century. I would just love to sit down and dicuss how great capitaism is and just pick her brain

I believe that Rabbi is right this is a great question.

I also have to agree with Raven. Of all the people that I have read about or interacted with the one that I would most like to have back for a moment or a day would be my Father, LLoyd Hage. I would love to hear his loud bellowing laugh. I would like to show his optimism off to my son. Lastly I would love to have him meet my son. It would be great for all of us. My Father, My Son, and especially me.

I would take my dad fishing. Some of my fondest childhood memories are fishing with my dad.

Man I miss him even 13 years later

We can all take from this thread the fact that we need to tell people today what they mean to us. Tomorrow is not guaranteed and it is hard to live life with regrets of sentiments not expressed.

Rabbi, FWIW unless you are referring to someone other than the obvious Jesus :) He isn't gone you can talk with him anytime :bigups

I do.Right now I'm trying to get Him to work on my back.
I talk to my grandfather and he is gone.Oh how i love that man.

I think I would like to spend the day with Marilyn Monroe

On Labor Day I spent the morning with Marilyn... appeared in the same shots on both newsprint and local morning talk show...well a very close look alike anyway.

The event was a "cook-off" between State Fair of Texas food vendors competing for awards. "Marilyn" served as one of three judges, judging for both taste and creativity. The winner of the "creative" award got some national exposure for his "Fried Coke". Our group had two entries, but unfortunately we walked away without award.

The young lady who potrayed Marilyn was definitely a cutie. Standing next to me in the photo made her look even better :D

My mom & Dad married at an early age diviroced when i was three at age 11 a man name Robert (bob) lived upstairs from my friend of 39 years always i talked about Bob . One day they both had a chance meeting although never married he loved my mom( and not a 1st sight) and treated my sister and i like his own. Taught me a lot of good things the 71 Cutlass you see in some of my pics was his he bought the car after an honarable discharge from the Viet Nam.As i got older and started to have kids he loved them like no other, many bike rides, BBQ"s on Holidays ( 3 days weekends) one BBQ everyday and always with the whole Family he had an infectious laugh and was love by everybody.

I would like spend one of the holidays and BBQ for the whole Holiday each of the girls all 4 said they would love a warm day for one more bike ride, Then give the rest of the evening to my MOM .Dec will be 9 years since he has passed somedays it dosn't get easier.

BTW ,My Dad is alive he stopped over yesterday and we had nice conversation although both parents being divorced my Dad was always in my live. What was Odd my Dad was Union carpeneter so was Bob they where partners at work and off the job until they day he passed.

Gee, doesn't anybody want to talk to their "Mom"?? ;)

Seriously, I have to jump in & say that it would be my Dad, too!! It will be five years next month, and I still miss him everyday!! He was the one that taught me to "take care" of my cars & I can still hear him getting after me if I try to say "good enough" before I've given my best effort!!

We wouldn't do anything fancy, just hang out in the garage, with the music that we enjoy & polish up a set of wire wheels for old time's sake :)

PS - That is a picture of my Dad's MG-B that he sold in 1972. It was taken on April 26 of this year, by the fellow that he sold it to, who moved it to England & stayed in touch with Dad all these years. :) I would LOVE to get my hands on it & polish it up!! ;)

What a classic! I REALLY wanted one of those...would have also settled for a TR-6, but couldn't afford either at the time (HS student).

Seems like someone on the boards has one (MG-B) currently.
