I'd be more inclined to vote "yes" if we included a fourth part to the pledge . . .

4. I pledge to disclose whether I received any of the products I review for free, or if I am part of an organized "beta tester" program for any product that I advocate.

I think that's a great idea Tort.

Well, I'm not voting, because, in my opinion, either action on such a motion implies that some action is necessary. Different strokes for different folks. As one preacher tried to explain the need for various denominations said:

"Religion is like women in general and denominations are like individual women. Lots of us may like women, but the individual differences between them is what causes us to love one more than the others. If we all thought like you do, we'd all want to marry someone just like your wife. Since your wife is unique, that's just not feasible or practical. However, since we have different tastes in women, and women are not all alike, we hope we can find one that suits us. Understand?"

He replied, "I think so. That means that if all women were like your wife and all men thought like me, none of us would be married!"

Seriously, if you swear by NuFinish, that's fine. You never know, you may truly have found a way to use that stuff that results in the absolute perfect Autopian shine. And I would appreciate you sharing your methods and showing us your results. Feel free to swear by the product, but don't swear at me (or others) if we do not particularly share your enthusiasm. Most of us are pretty civil in our discussions. I'd like to keep it that way with individual principles, and not mandatory rules. End of rant.

Very well said.

I'm gonna have to abstain from voting. I'd like to vote "yes", but then I'd have to abide my vote the next time a Toughgaurd shill pops up, and I just don't have that much willpower.

What's a shill? I don't think it's a good term, but I might be called one because I install and train dealership's crew how to install "******ua**"

Why do autopians hate TG?

Don't want to be a shill.

I had members ask me questions about TOUGHGUARD and I didn't have a chance to answer before they locked the thread. Uh man! I am a shill! Whatever that is. :nixweiss

To those who asked me question in the other thread that is now closed. I have 3 free samples of TOUGHGUARD. Don't think I will be working until my van is fixed and my back stops hurting.

This guy should be on the couch not hiding behind it. That's where I'll be ... on the couch.

You should have seen the cars at the Peterson Automotive Museum in Los Angelos. Most of those cars have custom, completely orange peel free paint jobs totally destroyed with swirls. Some of the street rods there were absolutely beautiful with glass flat paint...and severe spider swirls. :hairpull

Hey Scott,

Remember what Mike said about Leno's car being full of swirls. New car with swirls. It's a status symbol. A symbol of the elite. "I have enough money to employ someone fulltime to wash my 100 cars with the same old dirty rag". Now that's funny. :rofl

Or is it sad! :bawling:

I can't tell.

If I think anyone is going over the line and their posts about a product are filled with marketing speak and it comes across as product promotion vs product discussion, I'm not holding my tongue.

Scottwax,

You said it! Product promotion is a no no but product discussion should be allowed. I was almost regretting I became an installer and trainer for my product with all the bad talk on this board. The good thing is that people on other boards are using TG and bragging about it.

Don't want to be a shill.

Shill: One who poses as a satisfied customer or an enthusiastic gambler to dupe bystanders into participating in a swindle.

ToughGuard first spammed Autopia, and when they found they weren't allowed to do that (we banned the "ToughGuard" user's account), they tried to shill us. Are you saying you don't recall the thread where "Flytyer" was outted as a TG shill? You should, you posted several times . . . turns out "Flytyer" was really TG's marketing director.

Are you surprised that Autopians who are aware of the TG shill have a poor opinion of the product? People don't like being lied to.

I "just" read the locked post today and saw there were questions addressed to me. I just wanted to answer them. When I went to answer them I noticed the thread was locked. Forgive me for not posting alot. I was busy. Because the thread was locked and I am partially incapacitated I have some kits to give to the people who asked questions. I can't use them in my condition and I don't want them to go to waste.

If you have something to offer for non-commercial sale or trade, feel free to do so in the Trading Post forum. However, since you list on your website that you're an "Authorized TOUGHGUARD Representative/Installer", and given TG's past history at Autopia, you're walking a very fine line. If it smells like advertising or product sales, I'll pull the thread and your account. That may seem harsh, but you have Mr. Gums to thank for that . . . shills leave a lasting impression.

Thanks Tort.

That is fair to me. I have been a poster here for a year or two. I don't push what I sell but I will answer questions and contribute. If that's okay. Now is it okay to give these TG kits away for free and let autopians who have used the product discuss if it's good or bad?

I don't need to trade for anything.
