I don't know of a single Zaino user who does not use another line.

You don't? The only time I see many zaino users use other products (according to what they list in click and brag etc..) is when zaino does not make a product of that type, for example a wheel cleaner or a degreaser.

Also did you notice how as soon as you said anything about a product war everyone thought of zaino? Hmmm....

Why do zaino evangelists still use z7 to wash their car when they are going to polish afterwards? Why use ZCS instead of opti-seal when every direct comparison between the two I have ever seen from an un-biased source said that opti-seal was superior. Why buy zaino clay when if you are an experienced detailer (as many zaino users who use zaino clay claim to be) you should know that it is not made by zaino anyway, but rather auto magic.

The list goes on, but what it boils down to IMO is that many zaino users use (insert zaino product) because it says zaino on it and then go on forums and act like that product is god.

I hate all products; I've started detailing like they did in the 40's; by tying an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. In those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on 'em. 'Give me five bees for a quarter,' you’d say.

Now where were we? Oh yeah—the important thing was that I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn’t have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...

You never know what you're capable of. I never thought that I could shoot down a German plane, but last year I proved myself wrong!

This gets my vote for "Post of the Year". I blew Bud Light out my nose when I read this!

Cheers, Picus!! :)

I'm gonna have to abstain from voting. I'd like to vote "yes", but then I'd have to abide my vote the next time a Toughgaurd shill pops up, and I just don't have that much willpower.

Toughguard is too good for autopia, it is so long lasting if any of the autopian detailers used it they would lose their entire customer base. Toughguard bonds to the paint on a mollecular level, contains teflon (PTFE) and is ultra high gloss and non stick. In fact, watch me light the paint on fire, wow look how toughguard protected it even against flame!

Oh and now watch as I take a hose without a nozzle and show you how it does not bead, it just sheets you see! Now of course, rain comes down just like this, so this is how it will look when rain hits your car :)

JUST KIDDING! lol I hate shills

I just don't understand what a truce would accomplish. For one, these forums wouldn't exist without product discussion. And 2, if I wanted advice on which product to buy and get feedback on others' experiences, I wouldn't get it.

If statements can be backed up by experiences, photographic proof, or cold hard facts, constructive discussions are good for these forums. Not just "zaino is the best" or "i love menzerna" or "duragloss is cheaper".

Just my $.02

Im just grateful for the internet and finding places like Autopia. I gave up on detailing from 1990 - 2000, the over the counter stuff just wasn't all that great, plus doing it all by hand for minimal results and lots of labor. So what people use on there cars to me is a secondary issue

I will give you an example. Two friends use Menzerna to polish the car instead of ZPC before applying a sealant. They like Menzerna performance. I think the goal is to select the products that work best for you.

I just don't understand what a truce would accomplish. For one, these forums wouldn't exist without product discussion.

As I stated earlier, I want better product discussion. A truce could help this by lessening the amount of brand attacks and brand hyping that can occur. I'm essentially suggesting we focus more on unbiased observations about our own experiences.

I believe this will help the community.

I think Autopia becomes even more valuable when there are more side by side tests of products then the so-called "ad copy marketing" responses that people talk about above.

SL - after reading all this - do you honestly feel that you're going convince anybody here that a "truce" is needed? wanted?

Well I figure it's worth a try. We have several members who think it is a good idea enough to vote for it.

Perhaps just discussing the issue makes members more focused on unbiased performance.

You don't get it do you?

SL,

With all due respect for what you're trying to do, I voted NO cuz to vote YES is simply saying that people can't be civil or polite enough to let other members have their own darn opinion.

I read a fer bit more than I write, cuz I'm hear to learn and I don't have much to share just yet. I'm a heap smarter about my car detailing than I was a year ago because I read and take note what people are sayin.

Being the old buzzard I am, I see right on through people who are full of hot air and pushin their brand of snake oil. You fellas getting all upset over this form of BS are wasting your time. What's it matter in the big picture?

My mamma always told me to kill em' with kindness and I think that theory works in most cases. When someone gives their likes and dislikes, and it don't agree with yours, just say thanks and move on. No truce needed, just good dang manners.

Nothing hostile at all about what I said. The points that you are pointing out are people talking about *you*.

Can you provide a specific example where I did not provide honest feedback on product performance I observed?
