A Better Grout Sponge

I finally found them at the Lowes in Redlands - just not in the grout sponge place. They were with the cleaning supplies - which I think was mentioned somewhere in the last 19 pages, I just missed it!
 
Lowes has free standard USPS standard shipping thru the Dec12th-15th. No Minimun Req'd for those who don't live close to a Lowes.

Talking bout sea sponges? Let me tell you about a FloridaSponges.com episode just recently. I ordered a 10 inch sea sponge, paid thru paypal at their checkout, and never received it. No return e-mails, no contact #, no nothing from this "company".

Beware of that company.......just awful!

Anyone else experience this?

I ordered from them once and I never received the sponge. Amex gave me my money back and a week later the company e-mailed asking if I got the sponge. I should have said no and they would have sent it to me even though I got my money back! Given their record keeping they'd never find out.



I just used the Acme sea sponge yesterday. I had 60 degree weather here in Jersey in mid December. Now tonight, a day later, there is a half inch of snow.



Still going strong with the sea sponges. I just love them. So superior to a grout sponge it isn't even funny. The one thing I will say, they are not good with ONR.
 
i see these sea sponges at work(faux finish) everyday, only thing i don't like is how if theres something like particles you might have to pick it out of the sponge. they are really soft when they are wet and become firm again when they are dry.
 
Wow that's what I love about this site. An entire year and over 220 posts about a sponge....:laugh:

I guess that's why they call it "detailing," it's all about attention to detail. Good work men.;)
 
I went to two different lowes in my neck of the woods, first one did not have the grout sponges but had the regular Proline cleaning sponge. I picked one up.



Went to the other lowes and they had the grout and tile sponge for $1.98, i picked up three of them and will relegate the cleaning sponge to the wheels and what not.



I did use one before I flew out on my business trip and it was nice with my DP 4 in 1 rinseless wash and shine.



Thanks for the tip about these sponges.
 
I love grout sponges on my paint but for some reason it just doesnt clean my wheel wells or rims all the well. A mf really cuts through the grime. I end up tossing them though after since theyre pretty much done after that.

i just happened to stumble on this thread, i would have never considered using a GS for washing - but I guess I need to make a stop at Lowes today. :D



So can I safely say the GS does the least amount of harm to the paint and I can pitch my MF, sheepskin and foam mitts?

That's debatable IMO/IME but plenty of people do like them.

everyone's experience is going to be different sometimes, buy one and see for yourself...
 
I wouldn't necessarily throw them away... I still have all of my expensive mits and wash tools, but I honestly haven't touched them in over a year. When I started using the Lowes grout sponges, I liked them so much I stocked up with 8 of them and I'm still on my first 2. Very gentle and awesome.
 
thanks accumulator and bigal3 - i just picked one up - i got the rectangular one, i did notice there was a curved (hourglass) shape one also with the same price and name, but different labeling.

all you need to buy are a few, one lasts a looong time LOL...
