Is it just me, or does anyone have a problem with Zaino marring really easy? I was out washing today, and while I was drying my Charisma's were marring the crap of the Zaino. Does anyone besides me have this problem?

I saw it happening on a black car I was zainoing...the charisma's were too abrasive. I misted the towel (was dry before, I cut all the edges off, no fabric softener, etc.) with some z6 to reduce surface tension/enhance lubricity and it it stopped marring.

No pics, no digital cam:( I have used Klasse more than Z, but I have used Z before and never had this problem. I got a coat of Z5 drying on there now, hopefully that will fix it up.

That is the same thing that was happening to me!! Thanks for saying, I was hoping I was not nuts. :) I was using the Absorber, then following up with a dry Charisma, and it was marring the crap out of the Zaino. Thats a little scary if something as soft as Charisma's marr it, I'll try some MF when I remove my coat of Z5.

I've personally come to the conclusion that ANYTHING that touches the paint of the car WILL micromarr/scratch, just a question of how much/little. :(

Also, you have to figure in whether or not the zaino is really fully cured. The time I experienced this marring was when I put two coats of z5 on in the same day....

I think mine is fully cured. I put the last coat on about 2 weeks ago, and I noticed it started marring today

after washing...not taking the Z off...right...becasue i think yello is talkin like your getting it taking the z off...sorry if i am misunderstanding sumthin... .....i dont use Charismas to dry...i use them to take the z off though....Waterbandit and mf's for drying after wash....(CWA on windows....still chicken)

Marring looks like bad swirl marks, except it's in the sealant instead of the clear. When I dry I use the absorber, and then follow up with a Charisma to get any remaining water. The towels is actually cutting into the sealant marring it.

unfortuantely...but i havent had it with the z befoire...ususally any probs i have with the Z coat the z5 will take out...even if i need two coats.......lets see when u take it off:confused:

I already took it off, it did not do much of anything. I am going to strip it tomorrow. It had some swirls underneath to start with and I am tired of looking at them, so I will fix it tomorrow. I am going to break out the big guns....3M Fine Cut Rubbing Compound and get rid of all of those friggin' marks. :up

 Hope you don't do this often! Wow, between the Klasse haze and the Z marring, you haven't ben having much luck with sealants lately, have you?

In my case, the marring was showing up when trying to remove z6 after an application of z2/5. Now, I just wait at least 24 hours to apply z6 after. You guys should try it though....after your car is clean and dry, take a charisma and rub a section with it (especially on a black car). See anything??

i use Charismas to get the Z off but i only use Mf's to get the Z6 on /off....sometimes i wait the 24 hrs...sometimes a few hrs...thats weird though with the marring...but ill pass on trying it though.....:p

I asked a question a long time ago that I do not believe was ever answered, an although it is a bit off topic in this thread, here goes:

We are told by multiple sources to absolutely avoid polyester containing towels on our car finishes. Polyester is harder than the clearcoat and will scratch it.

Many here use microfiber cloths, and claim they produce no scratching, whether it be on a CD or their car's finish. Microfiber cloths always contain either 70% or 80% polyester, the rest polyamide, correct??!!

So, are high quality microfiber cloths really safe? What would cause one 70/30 mf towel to scratch a CD when another 70/30 mf towel doesnt? IM not talking about plushness here either...assume both towels are completely clean and new, like a NIcsand versus a MT.

puterbum,

Yeah you are right, it seems like I have been having lots of problems with sealants latley. And no, I don't use the Fine Cut Compound often. In fact, I have never used it on this perticular car, so now is the time to get rid off all the nasty swirls and scratches. I won't use it on the whole car, just the areas that really need it. :up

I'm here, FLONI.

I am really glad to see Showroom bring up this topic. I concur with the fellow who said he was glad that Showroom brought it up because "he thought he was loosing his mind." I have noticed the "marring," also. I have also noticed "smeariness." Now, these are not things to get terribly worried about, because, as SR observes, they are in the Z, not the paint.

Also, I have observed that with time and applications of Z6, the smeariness goes away. I think it is perhaps inherent in a product that is a liquid polymer . . . its like pouring liquid plastic on your car. I know it is supposed to cure, but <em class='bbc'>something[/i] is on top of the paint at times. I think that often it is the result of too thick an application of Z.

SR, do the lines of the marring change directions according to which way you most recently wiped the paint? Or, are they set?

I posted this a few months ago. I too have noticed the marring you are speaking about. It does seem that zaino is a bit more succeptible to the marring. I have noticed they are in the direction of the airflow on the car while moving. [same direction I wash, wax and buff. ] This marring was one of the reasons I think I may go back to klasse on my light colored vehicle. The other reason was that klasse seemed more resistant to dirt when it rained. It seemed like no dirt would remain on the car after a rain. I can't say the same for zaino. It is good with zaino, better than blitz, but not as good as klasse. Just my opinion. ;)
