97 White M3

Jesus, I was about to turn it down. LMAO don't do that!!

Dont ever turn down a big challenge unless you have been in that position and worked on something similar many times before. I learned so much from working on different types of problem finishes, some ridiculously hard and others stupidly soft or sticky. Once you master all 3 anything in between seems like childsplay!

No I wouldn't have turned it down because it would have been hard. I would have turned it down because it would have meant I under quoted. LOL the car is in a shop that I do work for every once in a while and with out thinking, I quoted a price and later thought about it.

My 95 m3 buffed really easily I thought the clear was actually a lot softer than I expected. It is black sapphire metallic. And was not even remotely cared for by the previous owner.

m3

I have been searching page after page on here but can't find what I'm looking for. I have a white 97 4 door M3 to polish this Wednesday and I'm trying to see what the clear is going to be like. Hard/soft? I haven't had experience with the older BMW's. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Did you wipe the surface with alcohol religiously after polishing? I have used Farcela a view times and found that the products had a lot of filling or masking of the defects. Of course it could have been the particular paint I was polishing.

Jay- I have done an older silver M3 and the paint cleaned up pretty nice, however I did a mustard colored one (I believe a 2002ish) with Brian and the paint was super hard.

Thanks for the help everyone. I found out what he used to remove the staining on the paint, he used the back (rough part) of a dish washing sponge. The top panels all had to be wetsanded so somebody else came in for that and I just cleaned up the holograms and micro marring left behind from the sanding. I only got cell phone pics of the before, it was hard to capture but its all better now. Sooner or later I'll learn to wetsand. Thanks again. I can't upload them from my phone, somethings not right. I'll try later.
