8 Reasons To Detail Your Ride (Hidden Giveaway)

Re: 8 Reaons To Detail Your Ride (Hidden Giveaway)

#3 - Being Present. Detailing is one of the few ways I`m able to be Present. I take my time no matter what I`m doing and enjoy the process. To quote my fellow Autopians below, we`re all savoring the moment and the benefits that come with it:

For me, it`s a stress reliever and good way to clear your mind.
You can escape the world.... and still be productive.
...intrinsic validation...
...The extreme focus placed on the task at hand...
Clean ride = clean mind...
It`s therapy...
..When you are detailing, you are forcing yourself to focus at the task in hand. This will help alleviate all the problems and worries you have in the world...
Therapy After a long week at work...
The Worry Free Zone! When you are zoned in on washing and detailing you don`t have a care in the world. Just you and the car.

Re: 8 Reaons To Detail Your Ride (Hidden Giveaway)

For me I`d have to say either therapy/relaxing/getting away or the awesome pride and satisfaction you get from making a car look stunning...and knowing that it`s all because of you. That feeling of accomplishment just brings a big smile to my face.

Re: 8 Reaons To Detail Your Ride (Hidden Giveaway)

The simple fact of I made my own clean and the "wow" that looks great! It clears my head. Takes my mind off of a long week

#3. Lower repair bills. Regular maintenance and cleaning will reduce the chance of corrosion or rust, which can lead to higher repair costs. It`s easy to tell the difference in a car that has been maintained and one that has been neglected. Some people just run their car through a swirl-o-matic once a month and that just does not work (probably causing more problems). You may not be able fix interior tears and holes, but the very least you can do is give your car a good vacuum on the inside and an a good maintenance wash and LSP on the outside. While you are actually touching all the interior and exterior pieces you will notice small problems that could possibly become big problems if not taken care of right away. Love thy car, the 11th Comandment.

You become one with your vehicle. Turn on the jams and engage yourself to reduce stress and aggravation. Seek out the body lines of the car and picture the clay model of what an engineer saw - while you wash away the crud of everyday life. Watch the self accomplishment unfold in front of you as the water sheets off the car, panel by panel. There is nothing more gratifying than stepping back from the vehicle and saying to yourself "yup, I did that!".

Ray,

Excellent, well thought out, and thorough/"detailed" list. I especially like your story on how you got your start in the detailing profession. I`m convinced most of us could still impress 95% of all but the most discerning car enthusiasts with OTC Meguiars or Mothers products from Wally World. "It`s the archer, not the arrow". Although, I`ll take a compound bow (DA/Rotary) over a recurve bow (hand polishing) any day of the week.

Keep up the great work on Autopia,

#3. It gives you time to appreciate the intricacies of automotive design.

I may not have designed my car, but when I`m detailing it, I`m imagining the clay modeler sculpting the contours on the hood, or the designer creating the wheels, and I appreciate the work that has to go into every component of the vehicle to create a cohesive final product.

The look on a friend`s, family member`s, or customer`s face when they see their vehicle transformed by our hard work detailing their, car, motorcycle, RV, or boat.

Nothing like having your 2, 4, 8, or 30 plus hours of dedicated labor being appreciated by the owner of the aforementioned vehicle.
Those kind words and appreciation are what make us strive for perfection.

Re: 8 Reaons To Detail Your Ride (Hidden Giveaway)

Kind of similiar to #1. But it shows that you care about what you own. It amazes me to see new vehicles with mud, grime and baked on brake dust. Spend $50,000 on a new truck and never wash it. I dont get it. And dont get me started on interiors...

For the Love of the Work -

I believe my car actually - Runs Better - after it`s all cleaned up Inside and Out....
And of course, one also Feels Better, and just looking at that clean car in the driveway or garage - it really lifts my spirits too...

On Details left overnight, I will go out into the garage at night sometimes, turn on my 16 shop lights and just look over that beautiful car and work again..
Just admiring it and checking Again, that I did not miss anything...

My Client has to have the Ultimate Experience when he/she comes for the Big Reveal ! :)

#3 It is relaxing, it doesn`t matter if you do it as a hobby, side job, or full time business; if it`s your own ride it`s just straight up relaxing.

Re: 8 Reaons To Detail Your Ride (Hidden Giveaway)

It`s relaxing. It`s a productive meditation that the rest of the world can covet.

Turn on the tunes and watch your hands work magic on something forgotten. It`s a restoration, the same thing as people that love renovating homes. You see it how it is, you see it during, and you see the end result and you know that you did it. When someone comes up and says it looks nice, you get that double-take, ask who you used, etc. you can look at them with a big smile because that`s your work.

Re: 8 Reaons To Detail Your Ride (Hidden Giveaway)

it shows you care. Some people have a nice new Mercedes they don`t take care of. When one of those is parked next to a clean, well taken care of Toyota, the Toyota will look better.

Ive seen Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Mercedes, BMW, you name it. They spend lots of money on the car but they neglect it. my car looks more taken care of and I find that pretty sad because I drive a 95 Camry...

Re: 8 Reaons To Detail Your Ride (Hidden Giveaway)

#3 - it gives me a break from screaming kids, barking dogs and it gives me a chance to get some fresh air

Re: 8 Reaons To Detail Your Ride (Hidden Giveaway)

3) Sets you apart from the crowd
No matter how plain or aged your vehicle is, a well detailed vehicle gets the attention of onlookers more so than a new, expensive version of the same car or truck. If I`m getting the attention of other drivers, it may keep me a bit safer.

SAVE MONEY

Only you know how you want your car cleaned. Don`t a hire a make-up artist detailer that will add make up to your paint and when it washes away you have a car that was used for spider-man to drive :D.

You want it to have a mirror finish?
You want your car to look good in the sun ?
You tired of your car only looking good in the shade and in the dark ?

if you answered yes to any of these ?`s then SAVE MONEY and do it your self.
