$4.50 a gallon in Brooklyn!!

wow.....just wondering, how high do you think gas prices would need to go for the average guy to stop regulary driving his car? Id start walking or taking the bus at $5.

I remember when I was able to fill up my 20 gallon tank with $20..

Well today I filled up and paid around $57.

But what am I gonna do? Stop buying gas? I gotta go to work and class, so as long as I can still buy gasoline, I'll probably keep paying for it.

:(

We talked about this today in our Business Ethics class - People are going to do exactly what truzoom said. As much as we complain and hate it, we are going to continue to purchase gas because we have to. The problem is our lifestyles are going to change because we wont have that extra money for the other things we want..So going out to eat for example will be cut down, leading to businesses cutting the amount of employees, leading that guy not being able to afford gas at all - prices need to drop and something needs to be done. $71 a barrel is ridiculous...I remember hearing at one point the amount gas actually costs is so minimal compared to what we pay for it, its just that the government allows for the prices to be how they are because of the demand we as Americans have for gas....

I often pay $3.00 or more a gallon even when others are paying in the 2 range...Having a supercharged engine isn't always fun..But what am I going to do? Im going to keep paying for my premium gas because that is what I need to do to keep going to my job to pay my bills plain and simple. I know people might chime in and tell me to buy a car that takes unleaded, but I am not complaining because it was my decision to have this car and Im fine with it...there are going to be unexpected costs we just have to deal with for the time being

How about salarys rising for once to keep with the rate of inflation. Nothing is going to happen, the rich are going to get richer and the poor poorer and you will see the middle class slowly be a memory.

Michigan is raising minimum wage..What a joke - you're exactly right it isnt going to fix anything. The middle class is shrinking...It scary to think of what our country is coming too...politics

People say the same thing about my car, high compression engine, needs 91 or more to run it's best, and it goes 87-89-93 here, so I always pick up the 93. The gas milage is a bit better, and even though it costs a bit more, the difference is minimal. Think about it, say an extra $0.20/gallon, for 15 gallons, is only $3 more, not too much. And I ahve a feeling you are still pumping unleaded ;)

You can run unleaded in a GTP - it just runs real slow. I've got one too, and it seems to just take out timing when you run under 93. I feel your pain man, just paid 3.09 /gallon. I suggest getting a BJ's card, it's 35 bucks a year but you can save up to 10 cents per gallon.

As for the 4.50 gas, thats just capitalism for ya. Its a system that can work for you or against you, and unfortuneatly you can't pick and choose when.

We are paying $1.40+ per litre here in Australia, with rumor being it will be a $1.50/litre in the next week :(

But nobody asks why?

Is there some fictional oil shortage?

Is it suddenly more expensive to pull oil from the ground?

Is it suddenly more expensive to move gas from refinery to station?

If the costs are up to move, pipe, ship, and refine gas, why was Exxon/Mobil the wealthiest company in the world this quarter with income passing the evil Wal-Mart? If Exxon/Mobil had to pay more to get the oil, the profits would not have rose so greatly.

There is a conspiracy here, open your eyes.

first of all, the gas station in BK that was charging $4.50/gal reduced to $4.00/gal yesterday after the **** hit the fan

secondly, for the people who believe 93 is better than 87, and gives better gas mileage need to proceed to remove their heads out of their asses.......93 octane purely has more oxygen in it than 87.....which means it burns FASTER which actually reduces gas mileage...

oh and for those who don't know....89 is BS!!!! gas trucks come filled with two grades, 87 & 93 (91 in Cali).....after the dude finishes filling 87 and 93 tanks, whatever is left over between both grades gets combined into 89 tank.......which usually amounts to a **** load of 87 and a lil of 93 in there

most guys will tell you to run 87, and once a month run a tank of 93 in there OR a bottle of fuel injection cleaner/HP booster....

I can find links if you want to back my line of thought....I've done a shitload of research on this
